Zen Class Nirvana Organizer Review and Giveaway

Posted by Jenna | Friday, February 26, 2010

Once you have children you realize how much 'stuff' has to go with you wherever you go. I thought we had a lot when we just had Kaelyn, but now with Kaden the load has grown even more. Kaelyn is at an age now where she enjoys doing things in the car when we're traveling. That means making sure she has plenty to do, snacks to eat and of course the necessities we need for a baby like diapers, wipes, pacifier, etc. Thankfully I have found a terrific way to organize it all thanks to Zen Class!

Anyone who travels by plane knows what a hassle the airport and actual flight can be. Between standing in line where you're juggling magazines, laptops, cell phones, searching for your ID and on the plane where you're stuck in the middle seat, pinned by strangers and unable to reach your carry-on...it can be quite chaotic. It was experiences just like this that finally had Zen Class founders, Jesse Travis and Brent Hollowell, saying "ENOUGH"! They saw a need to make flying (and traveling in general) easier and so, Zen Class was born. Their mantra is "upgrade yourself" to Zen Class, where traveling is actually a pleasant experience.

Zen Class was kind enough to send us their Zen Class Nirvana Seat-back Travel Organizer to review.

Features:
  • Multiple zippered and mesh storage pockets

  • Space for cell phone, Netbooks and eReaders like Kindle and Nook

  • Document Pockets: Six credit card/id slides, ticket pocket, passport pocket, cash/checkbook pocket, etc.

  • Memory Card Slots
  • Magnetic top closure flaps for easy access to travel documents, cash and credit cards

  • Convenient carry handles and adjustable, cushioned shoulder strap

  • Insulated bottle/cup holder

  • Available in black and brown water resistant microfiber

When it arrived my first thought was "This is smaller than I thought it would...will it do the job?" However, that thought was a fleeting one as I opened up the organizer to find so much more than I had ever expected! When closed the organizer is a very convenient size to carry...but when open it's more storage and organization space than I could have ever asked for. The measurements are: 8.5"W x 11.5"H x 3.5"D closed and 19.25"W x 11.75"H open.

Although we have not flown with our kids yet, we find ourselves in a similar situation as Jesse and Brent did with day to day travel. Between all of the kids' things (diapers, toys, blankets, etc) and ours (keys, money, IDs, etc) we have our hands full and were in desperate need of making traveling more comfortable and manageable. That's why I was very excited to receive this organizer and test it out ourselves.

We've already used the Zen Class Nirvana Organizer several times. And, although it's not what Zen Class originally set out to do...I can tell you that it has become one of my favorite diaper bags! Its size is so practical and the amount of storage is amazing. I found that several diapers, wipes, pacifiers, snacks, books and more are so easy to tote around with this great 'bag'. There's even a place where I can easily locate my keys, license and money. With the Zen Class Nirvana Organizer I have no need for a purse! LOVE IT!

We've also used it on the back of the seat in the car. It's the perfect way to organize the kids' things especially. We keep movies for the kids to watch while we travel, snacks, books, toys, diapers, wipes and other useful things all perfectly organized in the Zen Class Organizer. It has worked out perfectly for Kaelyn who enjoys looking at books and keeping her self entertained while in the car.

As I said, we have not traveled with it on a plane yet, but when we do have the opportunity...the Zen Class will definitely be the first thing we grab! I can see how this would be very beneficial and would make flying much less stressful and a lot easier. To use it on a plane, simply unlock the plane seat tray and pull it down. Then slide the traay table into the back pocket of the opened Nirvana Organizer (pocket pictured below) and return covered tray table to its upright and locked position. In just seconds you have all your things organized and right in front of you.

Back Pocket

While searching through the Zen Class website, I also realized that this product can be easily hung on the back of a stroller. I have not tried this yet, but will definitely do so once we begin using our stroller to go to the park and other places more often. It would be a great place to store the diapers and wipes for Kaden, as well as drinks, snacks and anything else we would need.

After having had the opportunity to try out the Zen Class Nirvana Seat-back Travel Organizer for ourselves, I am far more impressed than I ever expected to be. I love how multi-functional it is and know that it would make any sort of travel much easier, more comfortable and a lot more manageable! I would highly recommend this to anyone (with or without kids).

The Zen Class Organizer offers so many great features...many more than I'm sure I've even been able to discuss here. So, be sure to check out their website to see more pictures and information about this product!

We do what we can in our household to minimize and prevent the spread of germs and bacteria....especially this time of year! A few months ago I had the opportunity to learn more about, and review a product from Germ Guardian...a company we can go to to help us find the most safe, natural and effective ways possible to control the spread of germs in our homes through their large selection of great products!

Having been so impressed with their UV-C Pluggable Air Sanitizer (which we still use daily), I was thrilled when contacted to review their UV-C and True HEPA Complete Air Cleansing System.

The AC5000 has all of the top filters (HEPA, UV-C, Carbon) making it comparable to other brands out there. When I was researching and learning more about this product, I enjoyed checking out The Healthy Home Challenge website where I could compare the Germ Guardian to competitors. It's a terrific resource.

Features of the AC5000 UV-C and True HEPA Complete Air Cleansing System:

  • True HEPA Filter
  • UV-C Technology
  • Removes Odors
  • Kills Airborne Mold Spores
  • Extremely Quiet Operation
When it arrived on our doorstep, I was very excited to try it out. We've been looking for a good air purifier for quite some time and I was hopeful that we had finally found one that offered everything we needed. As with prior experiences I've had with Germ Guardian products, I was not disappointed!

The Germ Guardian UV-C and True HEPA Air Cleansing System is the perfect sized air purifier for a home...in small or large rooms. It offers five levels of air cleaning that capture allergens, uses UV-C light to kill common germs and bacteria, kills airborne mold spores and fights unwanted odors. Although I cannot prove whether it's actually killing germs and bacteria, I can tell you that whatever room we have it in is clear of any odors that may have been in there before and the air is very crisp. We have used it in our family room and nursery so far and are very happy with it!

Not only do I love the fact that it helps to keep our family healthier by controlling the spread of germs and bacteria, and eliminating unwanted odors in our home...but also the fact that it's extremely quiet when it runs! I can walk into the room and hardly even know it's there. We're able to have it running in the family room while watching TV and also in our nursery while Kaden is sleeping. I also appreciate the fact that it's not an eye sore. It's very sleek and modern looking which makes it fit in anywhere we put it.

Germ Guardian offers a variety of products that help us to naturally, effectively and safely control and prevent the spread of germs and bacteria in our homes. A couple I think would be great to have are their 2-in-1 Upright and Canister Vac and the Clean2 UV-C Air Sanitizer and Hand Vac.

If you'd like to check out other products Germ Guardian offers, you can visit their site for a complete selection.

Buy It: The AC5000 UV-C and True HEPA Complete Air Cleansing System can be purchased for $249.99.

You can also find Germ Guardian on Twitter and Facebook.

Do you search with Swagbucks?

Posted by Jenna | Thursday, February 25, 2010

Do you search with Swagbucks? I started using it as my primary search engine back in the Fall and am so happy I did! For those who aren't familiar with Swagbucks, it's a search engine that offers you the chance to win prizes (which include great gift cards like Amazon.com, Target and more) when you search with them. You use it like you would any other search engine, but the difference is, you earn prizes along the way!

Search & Win

I've tried other things like this in the past, so when I began I was a bit skeptical. To my surprise though, it's been a terrific way to earn gift cards and use them to purchase gifts. Many of the items we got for the kids this Christmas were purchased with Amazon.com gift cards earned from Swagbucks. It's been a blessing to have such an easy way to earn a little something while searching the web like I would with any other site. They recently changed it so every 1 Swagbuck is now worth 10. That means it's even easier to earn great 'swag'. I find that with the normal searching I do online, I earn at least 20-30 Swagbucks a day now....it adds up pretty quickly.

Also, for every person who signs up under you, you receive dollar for dollar what they earn up to 1000 Swagbucks...so if you try it and decide you like it...pass on the word so others can try it too! It's a great way to share with others and earn even more Swagbucks. I have provided my referral links within this post and you are welcome to sign up that way, or using Swagbucks.com to sign up on your own. :)

If you haven't checked out Swagbucks before, I would encourage you to sign up and try it out if you're interested.

**I was not asked to write this, I simply wanted to share my opinion and experience with Swagbucks.com with others. Readers may choose to sign up using my referral link if they wish, but it has no effect on my completely honest opinion of this site**

New! Weight Watchers Snack Cakes Review

Posted by Jenna | Thursday, February 25, 2010

Did you know that Weight Watchers came out with new and improved creme-filled snack cakes?? I'm not a 'Weight Watcher', but when I found out that some of their new cakes included Chocolate Creme, Lemon Creme and Carrot Creme...I knew I just HAD to try them! It's no secret that I LOVE sweets!
I was thrilled when asked to sample the variety of my choice. And, of course...I went with the chocolate creme. I am not always a fan of 'health food' because it usually tastes bland. I wasn't sure what to expect, but was definitely excited to give it a try. After eating one bite I can tell you that these little cakes far exceeded my expectations. They are incredibly yummy. I not only loved the creme filling, but also the moistness of the cake.

I am not much of a dieter, but when I eat sweets I try to do so in moderation. That's what I love about the Weight Watchers products...they make it super easy to watch your portions by giving you their point value (these were 1 point for each cake) as well as being individually wrapped. I did not feel guilty at all for eating them because they are a low-fat and low calorie snack. It's great to know that eating healthy can still include delicious snacks like these!

I would definitely recommend the new Weight Watchers treats to anyone looking for a tasty, sweet snack without all the calories.

St. Eve Kids Pink Cozy Review and Giveaway ~ Ends 3/10

Posted by Jenna | Wednesday, February 24, 2010

With March just around the corner and the temps still below freezing most days...I have started to wonder if winter will ever end. I have a feeling I am not alone. There are many things I dislike about this season, but one thing I do love is being indoors where it's warm and cuddling up with a blanket on the couch to read books, watch TV, and spend time as a family. Our daughter Kaelyn loves to do the same, which is why I was very excited to be introduced to the St. Eve Kids' Cozy.

St. Eve Kids offers a comfortably cute line of children's sleepwear, loungewear, underwear and more for both girls and boys. Their line of apparel welcomes a whole new world of playmates thanks to St. Eve Kid’s DramaU™ characters featured on the St. Eve Kid’s apparel. These bubbly characters, exclusive to St. Eve Kids, pop up on garments and make the perfect pals for kids bursting with personality and attitude. Drama U actually has a contest going on right now for a chance to win a year's worth of St. Eve Kids Sleepwear! For more info, visit www.dramau.com.

I'm sure most of you are familiar with blankets that have sleeves?! They seem to be a very popular item among adults...especially during these winter months. Well, thanks to St. Eve Kids' your little one can lounge comfortably with a blanket with sleeves too.

We were sent St. Eve Kids' Pink Cozy for Kaelyn. I knew she would love it, but until we received it in the mail...I wasn't quite sure how it would fit her since the size is one size fits most (girls' sizes betwen 6-9). I was excited for her to try it out though, and so was she! When it arrived she immediately ran to the couch to curl up with it. Although big, I thought it worked great for her. It's something she will be able to use for a very long time which is terrific! The Cozy would definitely fit most sizes considering it fit my 2 year old.

I have even used it! As an adult, I thought it worked very well. It's quite long and, other than the arms being a little short for me...it worked perfectly! I am able to stay warm and relax in comfort.

I was very impressed with how warm and snuggly it is! I love how soft and plush it is too. Oh, and the color we got is great as well! It's definitely the perfect way for Kaelyn to stay warm while still being able to look at her books and do other things at the same time. Since receiving it, she has already used it several times.

I also love the other patterns/colors they offer the Cozy in...aren't they cute?!

Wordless Wednesday ~ Is it Spring Yet?

Posted by Jenna | Wednesday, February 24, 2010

I recently said that I would share a picture of all our snow with you.....here's just one example of what we see where we live....homes almost completely hidden by mounds of snow! I am very ready for Spring...how about you?

One of Kaelyn's favorite things to drink is chocolate milk. It's not something she gets a lot of, but when she does it's quite the treat! We try to give her organic milk whenever possible, so I was pretty excited to learn that our favorite brand, Horizon, has come out with a new Organic Lowfat Chocolate Milk with DHA Omega-3!

This new Horizon product provides an easy way to add calcium and DHA to your family's diet. As many are probably aware, DHA Omega-3 is a very important nutrient that helps support things like heart, brain and eye health. Since we're always looking for the best when it comes to the foods Kaelyn eats, I was thrilled to learn we would have the opportunity to review it!

We were sent two coupons so we could try Horizon Organic Lowfat Chocolate Milk with DHA Omega-3 for ourselves.

Before drinking it, I wasn't sure what to expect. In the past I have tried 'healthy drinks and foods' that tasted bland and, well....'healthy'. I was hoping that this drink was as great tasting as it is for our bodies. After a couple of sips...I can tell you myself, my husband and Kaelyn all agree that it tastes great! It tastes lighter like other lowfat milks you may have tried, but still has a great sweet taste that you'd expect from a chocolate milk. I was very impressed and plan to purchase this again for our family. It's yummy and gives Kaelyn important nutrients she needs. You can go here to check out the ingredients and nutrition facts of this product.

Buy It: You can check out their store locator to find a location near you to purchase this and other Horizon products.

Win It:
Horizon has kindly offered TWO readers each, 2 coupons for a FREE half gallon of this product and 2 coupons for $1 off Horizon Organic lowfat Chocolate Milk With DHA Omega-3 (that's 4 total coupons for TWO Winners)!

To enter, leave a comment letting me know why you would like to try this product.

3 Months Old Already!

Posted by Jenna | Tuesday, February 23, 2010

It's hard to believe that today Kaden turned 3 months old! When Kaelyn was a baby, I remember thinking the months went by quickly...but with our second child the time seems to be going by even FASTER! Is that even possible?! Many times I find myself wishing it would slow down a bit. On the other hand...it's been fun because he's beginning to interact more...I love observing each milestone!

Kaden is rolling, cooing constantly, smiling from ear to ear much of the day, giving us little giggles, reaching for toys and copying some of the things we do. He's also sleeping through the night which is much appreciated! 8-10 hours of sleep at one time is wonderful for both he and I!

Kaelyn sure loves her little brother too! She's become such a wonderful little helper. Most days if I need something, like a diaper for instance, she tells me "Mom, I do it...that's my job". I feel truly blessed to have two wonderful children.

Flirty Aprons Giveaway Winner

Posted by Jenna | Tuesday, February 23, 2010

The winner of the Flirty Aprons Giveaway has been contacted and confirmed her prize!

Congratulations to Until Tomorrow Jennifer, Commenter #207!

Thanks to everyone who entered. Here is a list of the giveaways I currently have running. They can also always be found on my sidebar!

As a salesman who is in his vehicle a lot, my hubby finds it difficult to take leftovers to work for lunch. He's often on the road and doesn't have a way to warm his food up. When we're traveling, I have also run into the same problem with food for Kaelyn. Thankfully, I have been introduced to Warmables and couldn't be happier!

A family of three who are focused on what they eat, realized how important it was to provide their school age son a healthier alternative to the lunches he was being served at school. Given their love for fresh, healthy food...they decided to find a way to pack nutritious lunches which could be kept warm until lunchtime...and so, Warmables was born.

Warmables products were created to give people a way of keeping healthy lunches warm for an extended period of time. It started with Warmables for kids and now includes Warmables for the office and 5 pit bag products. The Warmables lunch systems are delivered as 3 or 4 piece sets (the Warmables pouch, liner, a BPA-free food container and a cherry pit bag) and do not produce any garbage at all! Now parents of children who eat lunch at school, and adults who pack lunches have an environmentally friendly and convenient way to keep healthy meals warm for 4-6 hours.

Some of the benefits to using Warmables include:

  • healthier school lunches
  • saving money
  • fighting childhood obesity, a growing problem in the US
  • environmentally friendly (does not produce any garbage)
Warmables was kind enough to send us a Warmables for kids lunch system to review.

When I received the product I was immediately impressed. I had no idea that each piece would be such good quality. The Warmables pouch acts as the insulator and is made with layers of various cotton and polyester fabrics which are then lined with nylon.

The BPA-free plastic food storage container holds up to 16 oz. of food and does not leak. It is safe to heat and store meals in as well which is very important to me.

The cherry pit bag is an old trick used before the time of modern heating systems. It helps to keep your child's (or your) lunch warm.

To use Warmables, you just fill the plastic container with food, heat it in the microwave and put the container with its hot contents into the Warmables pouch. You then heat the provided cherry pit bag in the microwave, but it in the Warmables pouch, seal it and put in your child's insulated lunch box.

We have had the opportunity to use Warmables several times already. It's so simple to use, and the fact that it helps us to keep healthy meals warm is one of the best parts! No more eating out at fast food restaurants when on the road or while hubby is at work. I am really thrilled to have been introduced to this product, not only because it enables us to eat healthier by keeping food warm, but it also helps to save money and reduces garbage. I would definitely recommend the Warmables for Kids lunch system. I am very interested in trying the Warmables for the office at some point as well....it would be perfect for my husband.

*Warmables offers a giveaway on their website every month...all you need to do is sign up for the newsletter and read it. Information on the monthly giveaway is sent out via the newsletter.

Buy It: Warmables products can be purchased from www.warmables.com.

Win It: Warmables has offered one lucky reader a Warmables for Kids lunch system like the one we received. To enter, visit Warmables and tell me something you learned.

**The products for this review and giveaway were provided for free by Warmables. This was not a paid post and my honest opinions were given.**

As a former preschool teacher, and a parent who likes to encourage my kids to have a love for reading...I believe books are a wonderful way to encourage our children in so many ways. I am always on the lookout for age appropriate books for our daughter Kaelyn and love when I find ones that she can relate to. Recently I was introduced to The Shushybye Sleepover Surprise book and was thrilled to have the opportunity to review it!

There is nothing Kaelyn enjoys more than sitting down with a book...so I knew she would be just as excited as I was to read this one. When it arrived on our doorstep, I barely had it out of the box and she was already asking if we could read it. Of course I said YES!

I'm sure there are many parents out there like myself who have dealt with a child who did not want to go to bed. In fact, sometimes it can be quite an exhausting task. That's why I love this book! Shushybye helps to encourage toddlers and preschoolers to look forward to sleeptime by introducing them to a land where the Shushies make magical dreams for little girls and boys. The catch, or main point of the story, is that if you want to dream you have to go to sleep. How clever is that?!

From the Press Release:

It is in Shushybye where dreams are made for children by the Shushies who live in such villages as Nap Valley, Snore Shore, Slumber Heights and Yawn Island. Every day, children give the Shushies their dream wishes - and the Shushies make them their dreams, delivered to them by the Shushybye Train as they fall asleep. Snoozles, Dozie and Zeez are three Shushy friends who enjoy making dreams and having all kinds of fun together. After making dreams, the Shushies gather in Pillow Park for the nightly Shushybye Dance, where they move and groove to the music of the Shushybye Dream Band.

I was very impressed with this book after reading it with Kaelyn, and knew she was equally as impressed when she continued to ask me to read it over and over again! Between the fantastic storyline and the colorful, animated illustrations...this is a book that parents and children of all ages can enjoy reading time after time. I not only love the idea behind The Shushybye Sleepover Surprise, but also the great CD that comes along with it! This is not your typical preschooler's music! It's something that adults will enjoy as well. Oh, and did I mention that the front and back covers of the book glow in the dark?! This was an added bonus to a book that we'd already grown to love!

The Shushybye Sleepover Surprise is not the only great product from Shushybye. In visiting their website, www.shushybye.com, and the Shushybye Shoppe I was happy to learn that they have everything from Shushybye Sleepwear to Shushybye dolls. I'd love to get these things for Kaelyn...she'd love it now that we have the book.

Also, The Shushybye Dream Band will be announcing some tour dates. You can check out the Shushybye website to find out if they'll be playing in a city near you.
