Our two year old daughter has been potty trained for 6 months now. Over time, we've learned that she'd much rather use the 'big potty' than her little potty chair. This is especially helpful when we are on vacation or at Grandpa and Grandma's house...as we don't have to haul her potty chair with us everywhere we go. The only downside to it, is that she wants to be independent and sit there on her own...but is still too small and requires the help of an adult to hold her up. That's why I was thrilled when contacted to review the On-the-Go Inflatable Potty Seat by On-the-Go Inflatables and have the opportunity to learn more about them!

On-the-Go Inflatables is committed to providing one of the most portable, fun and safest products on the market. They have designed four comfortable styles of inflatable potty seats that are specifically designed for the fast paced lifestyle of today's traveling toddler. Whether at home, on vacation, or at Grandma's....this product can be used wherever you go.

We were sent one of their Pink Inflatable Potty Seats to review.

I was really excited to receive it in the mail, and couldn't wait to see what Kaelyn thought of it. I hadn't even taken it out of the box yet, and Kaelyn had already spotted the picture on the front. She immediately ran towards the bathroom wanting to try it. With it being inflatable, I wasn't too sure how long it would take to blow up...but to my surprise, it was very easy and fast! Before I knew it, we were in the bathroom and Kaelyn was sitting on the 'big potty' with the help of the inflatable potty seat, all by herself! She was thrilled, and so was I!

Other than the fact that it allows Kaelyn to be independent when going potty on the toilet, I love how convenient it is! Now we have an on-the-go potty seat that can be placed on any toilet no matter where we're at. I also really like the handles. At first Kaelyn was a bit nervous sitting there all on her own, but once she realized she could grab onto those handles...she was at ease.

There are four styles of the On-the-Go Inflatable Potty Seat. Two blue ones (one with a character on it, and one without) and two pink ones (one with a character on it, and one without). We received the pink one with a character on it, which I absolutely love! Although Kaelyn is potty trained, it's still nice to make going to the bathroom fun...and that's just what the character did. She loves it! I think the character on the potty seat would be great for a child who is in the process of potty training too. Anything to get them excited about going potty helps a lot!

Other benefits of the inflatable potty seat that I really appreciate are:

  • travel-ready
  • inflates/deflates easily
  • soft comfort
  • backrest support
  • sturdy construction which holds it in place
  • easy to clean
  • affordable
I am so happy that we were introduced to the On-the-Go Inflatable Potty Seat! The quality, as well as the convenience and fun it brings to using the potty for little ones, lets me know that this is something we will use for a long time. I definitely plan to get a blue one down the road when Kaden begins potty training as well. I would highly recommend this to any parent with a toddler who is either potty training, or already trained!

Guy and Eva Jewelry Review and Giveaway

Posted by Jenna | Thursday, January 28, 2010

I've always enjoyed dressing up an outfit with a cute pair of earrings or a nice necklace. I like to find good quality jewelry at affordable prices though, and to find these two things together is often a challenge. That is, until I had the opportunity to learn more about Guy and Eva jewelry.

Guy and Eva began as a retail brand with their collection being sold in boutiques and various fashion specialty stores. Soon, their name became synonymous with high quality and affordable prices, which resulted in several fashion magazine features and celebrity spottings. As they became more well known, Guy and Eva received many inquiries from people who were interested in personally selling their jewelry. This is when their journey began, taking them in a whole new and exciting direction.

They created a plan which consists of a stunning collection, generous hostess rewards and a great compensation plan. Becoming a Guy and Eva Advisor gives people the chance to make extra money as well as the fun opportunity to build a Guy and Eva business the way that you want. Whether you're someone who loves doing parties or you prefer recruiting and training...Guy and Eva have something for everyone. They show much appreciation for their hostesses with a generous Hostess Rewards Program including free jewelry credit, half off jewelry and more!

I was sent their beautiful Kika Set which included a necklace, bracelet and earrings.

When I opened the box I was immediately impressed! Each piece came in a beautiful white box, lined with velvet. Inside each box was a white pouch with the Guy and Eva logo on it, which held the jewelry. I thought it was presented in a very classy way! At this point I was very excited to open each one and reveal the necklace, bracelet and earrings I was sent.

I couldn't be happier with the beauty and quality of each item. The pictures do not do justice as to how stunning they are. What I love so much about them, is that I'm not only able to wear them when I dress up, but also with just jeans and a simple top. It's great having jewelry that's so versatile and something that can be such a beautiful accent to any style or outfit I'm wearing.

I now have my eye on their Liv Necklace and their Cultured Pearl Necklace...aren't they beautiful?!!

They have an amazing selection of high quality and fashionable jewelry that's affordable. No matter what your style, they have something for everyone! I would definitely recommend checking them out for yourself!

Buy It: You can purchase the Kika necklace for $49, the bracelet for $32, and the earrings for $28, all at www.GuyandEva.com/shop.

Wordless Wednesday - Sleeping Baby

Posted by Jenna | Wednesday, January 27, 2010

I never get tired of watching my baby sleep. :)

"This is the life"

I don't know about you, but I am always looking for ways to make dinner time go more smoothly with my 2 year old. She has been eating with a fork and spoon for quite some time now, but I still find that she drops more food on her lap and the floor than she gets into her mouth.

Carys Bice found herself in the same situation. She had three children under the age of five who became increasingly frustrated trying to use standard utensils that made using their hands seem much easier to get food from the plate to their mouths. Wondering how she could make mealtime go more smoothly, she thought tongs would be an ideal solution and in 2008, Tinytongs was born! They are a safe eating utensil and designed for little hands to use in gripping and getting food into their mouths with more success.

We were sent Tinytongs to review.

When we received our Tinytongs in the mail, I was impressed with the size. I expected them to be larger for some reason, and was pleased that they were smaller and perfect for little hands. The fact that they are made for children 12 months to 5+ years makes them perfect for Kaelyn. She was very excited to use them for the first time. I wasn't sure how it would go, as she had never used tongs before...but she did amazingly well. And, best of all....we didn't have the huge mess after eating that we normally do. YAY! With the ergonomic shape and non-slip gripping ridges...she was able to easily hold onto it and use it successfully.

I also love the quality of Tinytongs. They are dishwasher safe and I can tell will last us a very long time! I'm looking forward to purchasing more so that we have plenty once Kaden begins using eating utensils as well! I also appreciate that they are safe for my kids to use. They are non-toxic, lead free, BPA Free, and Phthalate Free.

Buy It: You can purchase Tinytongs on the Tinytongs website for $7.99. They come in several fun colors.

Coupon Code: When placing an order, A Mom's Balancing Act readers can use the coupon code, mba2010, to receive a 20% discount.

You can find Tinytongs on Facebook as well!

Alphabotz Flashcards Review and Giveaway

Posted by Jenna | Tuesday, January 26, 2010

From the time Kaelyn was very young I could tell she had a love for learning. She has always enjoyed reading books and anything to do with her letters and numbers. At just under two years old she began showing more of an interest and suddenly began reciting her ABC's and recognizing letters when she saw them. Now, at 27 months old, she has begun to say some of the letter sounds as well. Since this is something she seems to really enjoy, I got to thinking about things I could do to help encourage her learning of the letter sounds even more. That's when I happened to come across Alphabotz and am extremely glad I did.

Alphabotz was created by a teacher and parent who wanted to bring a kid friendly and fun way for kids to unlock the secrets to this code we adults call reading. Using the Alphabotz superphonic decoder cards, children are introduced to stories and adventures that reinforce early reading skills by creating meaningful associations between letters and sounds. As a former teacher, I have always felt it to be important to teach children in a way that will leave a lasting impression on them. To do this, it must be done in a meaningful way. That's why I was so impressed with the Alphabotz cards...they are much more than your typical flash cards.

We were sent a set of Alphabotz Superphonic Decoder Cards to review.

Kaelyn helped me open the box, and the moment we got out the cards, I could tell this was going to be something she really enjoyed. In looking over the cards initially, I was very impressed with all that they entailed. Each card shows a robot, a letter in upper and lower case, words that start with that letter and stats on the robot. The fact that the cards are brightly colored and on the larger side makes them easy for kids to handle and fun!

Although Alphabotz is designed for children ages 3+, I never think it's too early to introduce children to reading and learning...especially if they show an interest in it. With Alphabotz we will be able to use them for a very long time. Right now Kaelyn can continue to work on recognizing her letters and practicing sounds. As she gets older, these wonderful cards can be used to help strengthen her reading skills by helping her grasp the idea that letters equal sounds, sounds build words and words tell stories.

I would recommend Alphabotz to anyone looking for a fun and educational way to help emerging readers improve their phonics skills. It's a great way to work with your children on letter recognition, sounds and more! Alphabotz would make a fantastic gift idea too.

Buy It: Alphabotz can be purchased for $19.95 from the Alphabotz website.

Win It: I'm very excited because Alphabotz has generously offered one lucky reader a set of Alphabotz flashcards of their own! To enter, visit Alphabotz and leave me a comment letting me know another Alphabotz product that is in the works.

Baby's First Phone Call $50 GC Giveaway (4 Winners!!)

Posted by Jenna | Monday, January 25, 2010

When both of my kids were born, I wanted to be sure that hubby contacted all of our family and friends to let them know the good news. Although we both would have liked for everyone to find out sooner, with all that goes on in the hours after a baby's birth, it was difficult to notify family and friends as quickly as we would have liked. It's such a precious time...one where we could bond with our baby and enjoy all those first moments with them. That's why I thought Baby's First Phone Call was a really neat service for new parents and am happy to have been introduced to it.

Baby's First Phone Call is an automated call tree that allows new parents to notify friends and family of the arrival of their little one without having to make dozens of individual phone calls, or leaving some friends and family to find out from someone else before you have the chance to tell them yourself.

So how does it work? Well...with Baby's First Phone Call, the expectant parents set up an account before the baby is born and enter the names and phone numbers of all the people they want to notify when the baby arrives. Then, after the baby is born, they make a single phone call and leave a personal voice-mail message of any length with all the details they want to include. The system then places calls to each of the phone numbers in the account. If the person answers, they hear the happy message. If they don't answer, the message is left on their voicemail or answering machine. In either case, there is an option for them to leave a return message that the new parent can pick up at their convenience.

I think this would have been great to have when Kaelyn and Kaden were born. It would have been comforting to know that we weren't forgetting to call someone and that no one was the last to know. It would definitely make a fantastic baby gift for anyone you know who is expecting.

Buy It: Call packages and gift cards can be purchased from the Baby's First Phone Call website.

Win It: Baby's First Phone Call has generously offered FOUR lucky readers a $50 Gift Certificate. To enter, leave me a comment letting me know who the $50 Gift Certificate would be for if you won.

Baggino to donate 50% of sales to help Haiti victims

Posted by Jenna | Sunday, January 24, 2010

Baggino is a company which offers high quality diaper bags, bibs and accessories... created to make the everyday life of modern parents easier than ever. You may have read some of the past reviews I've written for this great company.

It was recently brought to my attention that they are doing their part in an effort to provide relief to the victims of the earthquake in Haiti. Baggino has announced that it will be donating 50% of all sales from Baggino.com until the end of February. Although a smaller company, every little bit helps and we can all help to make a difference.

Thoughts of Summer and Warmth

Posted by Jenna | Saturday, January 23, 2010

This gives you an idea of what I see as I look out my window each day... freezing rain, snow, and ice! It's only January, but I'm already dreaming of Summer. I guess you could say I'm not a big fan of the cold and snow. It's beautiful, but after a couple of months of it...I'm ready for the warmth of Summer!

One thing I do love this time of year though, is watching Kaelyn enjoy playing in the snow! She loves to sled, make snow angels and build her "Frosty The Snowman" as she likes to say. She even enjoyed it last year when she was barely tall enough to walk through the deep snow. :)

Last Winter (December 2008)

This winter (December 2009)

If only the temps would warm up a bit, and the freezing drizzle would stay away...then we could enjoy the outdoors more this time of year.

eShakti Review and Giveaway (THREE Winners!!)

Posted by Jenna | Friday, January 22, 2010

Having had our son just a couple of months ago, I'm still sifting through the clothes in my closet trying to figure out what fits, what doesn't, and what never will again. With a toddler and a two month old, it's rather difficult to get out and go shopping for new clothes...especially with the winter we've been having! Online shopping is an option, but when it comes to clothes, it's difficult to find the perfect fit...they just never end up looking the same on me as they do the models. That is, until I found out about eShakti!

eShakti offers a large selection of stylish clothing for women in sizes 0-26W. You're not only going to find a look that suits your taste, but also a size that fits you perfectly! What I was most impressed with, was the fact that they offer custom sizes, as well as standard sizes. That means for just 10 dollars more, they will customize any piece to fit your shape perfectly. They want to make every woman look her best and feel comfortable in what she's wearing.

At the time I found out that I would have the opportunity to review one of eShakti's amazing pieces of clothing, it had only been about a month since I had our son. Although I was back into many of my pre-pregnancy clothes, I knew my body was still changing and wanted to find something that would look great every step of the way.

eShakti sent me the Romantic Scallop Blouse to review. With so many great styles and items to choose from, it was difficult to just choose just one! I finally decided to go with this and am so happy I did.

Within days of placing my order, my item was shipped (they ship within 3 days)! I was amazed and very pleased with how fast they were. I really didn't know what to expect, but when I received it in the mail I was very impressed and couldn't wait to try it on. I not only love the cotton satin fabric and the quality of the blouse, but I also love how it fits! It has a banded waist and low hip length, which is exactly the type of blouse I've been looking for since having our son. I've had the chance to wear it a couple of times already, and received several compliments on it.

eShakti is definitely the place to go if you're looking for that perfect dress, blouse, jacket, etc. that looks great and fits you perfectly. Shopping for clothing online has never been easier, thanks to eShakti. Visit their website to see more from their amazing collection of clothing!

Buy It: You can purchase the Romantic Scallop Blouse that I received for $49.95.

Win It: eShakti has generously offered THREE lucky winners a $20 Gift Card! To enter, visit eShakti and leave me a comment letting me know something you'd love to have.

SproutBaby to donate 10% of proceeds for Haiti Relief

Posted by Jenna | Thursday, January 21, 2010

In an effort to provide relief to the youngest victims of the earthquake in Haiti, SproutBaby.com has announced that it will donate 10% of its proceeds from the month of January to aid the children of Haiti.

To jump-start its efforts, SproutBaby has already donated $1,000 to AmeriCares a nonprofit disaster relief and humanitarian aid organization which provides immediate response to emergency medical needs. AmeriCare volunteers and staff are working tirelessly to provide relief and supplies to the earthquake victims. The proceeds earned in January will also be shared with Partners in Health, an organization that works to bring modern medical care to poor communities in nine countries around the world. Partners in Health has been working in Haiti for more than 20 years to provide medical care, but is now overwhelmed and in need of assistance due to the recent tragic events.

Each purchase made at SproutBaby.com is a chance to offer relief to the children of Haiti. SproutBaby would like to raise as much money as possible for these two great organizations.

**This information was passed along to me to share with my readers. This was not a paid post and product was not received.**

The weather is rather unpredictable here in the Midwest...especially during these winter months. One day it can be extremely cold, with temps in the negative digits, and the next it can be near 40 degrees! For this reason, we must always be prepared with the proper clothing and accessories to keep our kiddos warm when we're out and about. This can be a bit difficult with a baby. Whenever we're out, we always take Kaden in his infant carrier. When it's raining, snowing, or windy...we find that a blanket doesn't work very well in keeping him dry and warm. That's why I'm happy to have come across Sprout Shell!

Sprout Shell is a privately owned and family operated company. It all began when Sheri Whittaker had her third daughter and realized there was a serious need for a truly functional infant carrier cover that would eliminate exposing her baby to the wind, rain, cold, etc. She ended up making her own. Then, ten years later, her oldest daughter Kirsten became pregnant and saw that there was the same need. Together, with Sheri's business experience and Kirsten's marketing background...Sprout Shell was born, giving mom's the first multi-functional, stylish infant carrier cover that grows with baby from birth through toddlerhood.

We were sent the Royal Crush Sprout Shell.

From the start, I was very impressed with the material of this cover. Having such cold weather, and not knowing whether it will be raining or snowing from one day to the next...I loved the fact that this particular Sprout Shell was made of super soft, and warm 100% Cotton Corduroy. We have used different covers in the past, but what I LOVE about this one, is the fact that it's multi-functional. It can be used as an infant carrier, nursing cover and shopping cart cover!!

When used as an infant carrier cover, the tent-like enclosure protects Kaden from the sun, wind, rain and other elements. It's a cozy environment that typically puts him right to sleep! I like that there's a hole in the top so we can easily hold onto the handle and still see Kaden inside. No more piling blankets on top of the carrier and having them blow off. The all-around elastic helps to keep the cover securely in place which is fantastic!

Since Kaden is still very young, he is still nursing quite often, which means most times when we're out in public I need to feed him at some point. Now that we have the Sprout Shell, I don't need to worry where we are, because it instantly becomes a nursing cover that gives added privacy no matter where we're at. I love it! I have already tried it out, and love that it stays in place and doesn't fall off like blankets do.

I am rather particular about germs on shopping carts. I remember when Kaelyn first started riding in shopping carts, we'd pile the blankets in to help keep her from touching the cart and sucking on it. It was such a pain! When Kaden starts sitting in shopping carts, I know I will always have a handy shopping cart cover with me. The Sprout Shell can be used as a cover on shopping carts and high chairs to keep those nasty germs away from him.

There are many styles to choose from. I also really like the 100% Cotton, Disco Dot Blue Sprout Shell.

I love the fact that the Sprout Shell fits all infant carriers and is so versatile. No more having to have multiple blankets with us wherever we go, or a separate infant carrier cover, nursing cover and shopping cart cover. With the Sprout Shell, I have it all with me wherever I go. Anything to make life easier is always appreciated. I would recommend this product to any parent with small children! It's definitely a Mommy Must-have and would make a fantastic gift as well.
