When Kaelyn was younger, she colored and painted like many children, but not as often as I would have liked. Not because I didn't want her to engage in these types of creative activities...but because she was constantly putting everything in her mouth! It made me nervous to think of what might be in these paints and crayons, which is why we only got them out when I was able to sit down with her without the distraction of cooking, cleaning, etc at the same time.

At nearly 4 years old now, she has outgrown that phase and has been for quite some time. She loves art and anything to do with writing, coloring, painting, etc. The hard part is...her younger brother is still very much in that "putting everything in his mouth" stage. And, when big sister is doing a fun art activity, he wants to take part too. I often have the same concerns as I did with her...that he's going to be putting paints and crayons in his mouth. That's why I was thrilled to learn that there's a solution so little ones can be included in the fun.

Wee Can Too began with a stay at home mom looking for a safer and more nutritious art product for her daughter. And, in 2007, Edible Art Supply was born. Knowing that everything ends up in an infant and toddler's mouth, this momma came up with a line of products made just for this natural curiosity and created products from ALL food-based organic ingredients. With everything from Edible Crayons, Edible Sidewalk Chalk, and Naturally Safe Fingerpaints...parents can relax knowing that Wee Can Too products make playtime non-toxic and worry free!

As a mom of two children, I was thrilled when introduced to this all natural organic art supply company. These food based art products are exactly what I've been looking for and needing since Kaelyn was a baby. I love the idea behind "Art From the Start" and the concept "if you can eat, you can paint". I couldn't have been happier to learn we were going to have the opportunity to review their Edible Fingerpaints.

These fun Edible Fingerpaints are made with baby safe ingredients which are completely organic and non-toxic (VEGAN, no wheat, no sugar, no preservatives). Made from Organic Fruit & Vegetable powders, rice cereal and rice flour...these fingerpaints are literally safe enough to eat.

We were sent the Wee Can Too Edible Fingerpaints Tottle Set which includes 5 great colors...Purple/Blue with real blueberries, Red/Pink with real beets, Orange & Yellow with real pumpkin and green with real spinach!

The paints come in 6 oz. convenient tottle bottles which have powder in them. After reading the very simple instructions on the back of the bottle...the kids and I were ready to get started. We simply added water until the bottles were almost full, shook them and Viola! We were ready to create.

Having used these paints with both kids several times, I am happy to report that we love them!! It's the perfect way to let Kaelyn and Kaden enjoy art without me having to watch over their shoulders every second worrying.

Both kids love these safe fingerpaints. We have found that they're great for both fingerpainting (the kids love the texture and consistency) and painting with a brush. It's perfect for any type of activity we're doing. Best of all though, when Kaden decides to stick his hands in his mouth I don't have to stress, because these paints are made with things like beets and blueberries! If a child is old enough to eat table food, they can use these paints! Isn't that great?!

Since the fingerpaints are made with all food-based organic ingredients, once water has been added, the fingerpaints must be kept in the refrigerator and can last up to 30 days or more. It's actually been very convenient, as the kitchen is usually where we do our coloring, painting, etc. so I always have the paints nearby.

One other thing I wanted to mention...as someone who is very sensitive to/gets headaches from strong fragrance and scents, I was happy to find that these paints hardly have any smell at all. They are not harsh smelling like so many other paints for children and I am comforted knowing that we're not breathing in harmful fumes or chemicals.

Overall we've been thrilled with the Wee Can Too Edible Fingerpaints!! The kids absolutely love painting with them, and I love being able to relax and let them enjoy creating art while watching their creativity and imaginations soar! I really appreciate knowing that they're completely safe and edible. I plan to purchase more of the Edible Fingerpaints in the future, and will definitely be recommending them to other families with young children.

As I mentioned, the Edible Fingerpaints are just one of several natural and safe products offered at Wee Can Too. With summer here, I think the Edible Veggie Sidewalk Chalk would be something many families could enjoy, as well as the Edible Crayons for lots of coloring fun year-round!

Wordless Wednesday ~ Our Family is Growing!!

Posted by Jenna | Tuesday, June 28, 2011

I've mentioned it in a few different reviews I've written recently, but realized I haven't made an "official" announcement that our family is growing! I'm almost 19 weeks pregnant with baby #3 and very excited to meet the newest addition to our family in November.

The kids are really looking forward to having a baby brother or sister too!! We have our second ultrasound in a couple of weeks and can't wait to see the baby again. We have decided not to find out the gender, as we want to be surprised like we were with Kaelyn and Kaden. It will still be such a special time watching him/her on the ultrasound though..I can't wait and feel incredibly blessed to be becoming a family of 5!

With each baby we've tried to come up with a special way of telling our families we're expecting. When I was pregnant with Kaelyn it was a poem we framed for our parents (I have a picture, but can't seem to find it). With Kaden we had Kaelyn in a "Big Sister" t-shirt to make the announcement to everyone.

Kaelyn in 2009
And, for this baby we decided to personalize a bag of M&Ms for each grandparent and let them figure out the surprise once they read them (we had things like "baby #3", "due in November", etc on them). It was a lot of fun!

I always love to hear the stories of the different ways others have shared the special news with friends and family. What are some of the things you've done or heard of being done to tell people you're expecting??

BabyBjorn High Chair Launch & Feeding Gear Goodie Bag Giveaway

Posted by Jenna | Tuesday, June 28, 2011

As a mom of two with our third on the way, I am always looking for companies that offer high quality, safe baby items that make day to day tasks a little bit easier. Thankfully, I know I can count on BabyBjorn for exactly that!

A family-owned Swedish company, BabyBjörn began 50 years ago with three core values of quality, safety and style. Offering high quality, innovative products for infants and toddlers in over 40 countries, it's no wonder they are a preferred brand among parents around the world! With everything from bouncers and baby carriers to potty chairs and more...BabyBjörn is sure to have something that suits the needs of families with young children.

We've owned several BabyBjorn products and have always been impressed with the quality and modern design. Knowing that all their products are tested and certified to ensure their quality and safety has me turning to them time and time again. That's why I was excited to learn about the launch of the new BabyBjorn High Chair!

BabyBjorn is dedicated to safety which is evident when learning more about this high chair.

The BABYBJÖRN High Chair is the ideal first high chair for your child, suitable from minimum five months of age up to approximately three years. The high chair’s ergonomic and encircling design with a curved backrest and adjustable, rounded table ensures that even a very young child who can’t sit up on their own yet sits comfortably and in an upright position.

The well conceived design with a unique safety solution guarantees your child is securely seated throughout mealtime. Along with the safety harness, the BABYBJÖRN High Chair features a foldable and lockable safety table that keeps your child firmly in place, preventing him or her from standing up or resting their feet on the tray so that the high chair tips backwards.

Designed with parents in mind, the BABYBJÖRN High Chair is simple to keep clean with smooth surfaces without nooks and crannies where food can collect. It also features a detachable, dishwasher-safe tray. To further minimize mess, the safety table fits snugly against your child’s tummy and helps prevent food from falling into his or her lap.

It's also great for parents who are looking to save on space. It measures just 10 inches wide when folded! Now that's my kind of high chair!

The following is a short video recapping the BabyBjorn High Chair Launch Event in NYC which gives you more of an idea of all that this high chair has to offer! Looks like fun!

To celebrate the launch of the new high chair, BabyBjorn sent me a fun goodie bag with several of their feeding products...including a Baby Bjorn Cup, Plate & Spoon, Soft Bib, and Eat & Play Smock! We have had the opportunity to use them all and once again, BabyBjorn did not disappoint! We love everything!!

The BabyBjorn Cup, Plate and Spoon have all made meal time easier...especially for Kaden! He has wanted to drink out of a cup like his big sister for quite some time. I love that the BabyBjorn Cup has helped with that. It's designed for tiny hands so it's easy for him to hold. It also stands firmly on the table and is hard to knock over (yay!!). It's really the perfect size for him. Now I just need to get another one for big sister...as she enjoys using it too!

The BabyBjorn Plate and Spoon have been great as well! It makes it easy for Kaden to eat by himself. He's becoming more and more independent...so the fact that he's been able to scoop up the food with no problem has really boosted his confidence and ability. The spoon is compatible with the plate's shape and works using either the right or left hand. It's easy to grip and designed to make scooping up food easy. The plate actually has a smart rubber base that keeps it sliding on the table which is great too!

And, when it comes to having toddlers...every parent needs a good bib and/or smock! We have gotten a lot of use out of the BabyBjorn Soft Bib and BabyBjorn smock already, and I know we'll continue to as time goes on.

The BabyBjorn Soft Bib is designed to fit children perfectly. I was amazed at how well it fit both Kaelyn and Kaden. What's even better, is that it's comfortable and catches food that misses their mouths! I can't tell you how many times Kaden gets done with a meal only to have to change his pants because there's food all over them. The BabyBjorn Soft Bib has really helped with this. It also rinses off easily and still looks like new! I'm so glad we have one of these bibs and know it will last us a long time. Not only is the quality great, but the fact that it has an adjustable snap means that it will be able to grow with both of my kids.

We also have enjoyed the BabyBjorn Eat & Play Smock. Not only is this smock great for protecting against spills at mealtime, but it's also perfect for activity time and painting! It easily buttons at the back and is made of breathable fabric so children do not get too warm. It's made of a hard-wearing material that is very easy to wipe off, yet seems to be really comfortable and nonrestrictive. Both kids love wearing it!

Anyone who has been in my home knows they will find pictures of our kids and family in pretty much every room. As cheesy as it sounds, it's what really makes our house feel like a home. I like for the decor I use to not only be inviting, but also something that represents who we are and the things that are important to us. I'm often looking for ways to personalize our home even more, which is why I love companies like ArtisticLetters!
Photographer Jodi Gerber of ArtisticLetters has created an entire catalog of black & white letter images throughout the past 3 years – all by taking photos of objects in nature that resembled letters of the alphabet. She recently decided to offer her ENTIRE catalog of letter images to the public on CD or Download so that anyone could create their own designs! It’s a truly original way to make artwork for your home - or even for scrapbooking, greeting cards, and digital designs consisting of wedding invitations, baby’s birth, etc.. Endless possibilities for whatever the mind can imagine!

I am not the most creative or crafty person, so I love that Jodi has made it simple for people like me to create unique, personal pieces for my home. Whether it be a piece of art or even custom Thank You cards, scrapbooking items, or invitations....her catalog of letter images and mattes make it possible to create pretty much anything. The sky is the limit!

I was excited when introduced to www.BuyAlphabetPhotos.com and the great collection of beautiful black & white letter images found there! I couldn't have been happier to learn I was going to have the opportunity to check them out for myself. I was sent a complete set of letters and mattes to download for review.

The images and mattes were very easy to download. In just minutes I had everything on my computer, ready to use. I love that Jodi offers her letter images to the public on CD or Download. It gives customers the opportunity to create unique and one of a kind pieces.....something that suits their style, taste and needs. Once I had them all at my fingertips, I was excited thinking about all the possibilities of things I could create.

As I said, I love having pictures of my kids around the house and have been wanting to create a fun photo collage of some sort. Kaelyn and Kaden are close in age and as they get older, play with each other more and more. I love seeing the bond they share and it's heartwarming to watch as they give hugs and kisses to each other. I hope they will always share that sisterly/brotherly love! I wanted to capture that in a piece of 'art' and knew ArtisticLetters would be the PERFECT way to do it!

I decided to print off the letters I needed to spell the word L O V E. Not only did the set have those letters included, but several of each for me to choose from. Since there are choices, it's easy to find one that suits the feel and look you're going for. I went with the following, and am SO happy I did!

I went and bought a frame that I knew would go with the decor in my husband's home office, as he's been wanting more pictures of our family in there. I put the stunning letter images in the frame and along with those, put some of my favorite pictures of the kids together. I really love how it turned out, and am now considering making one as a gift for the grandparents to have as well!
This LOVE collage is just one of so many ideas I have had for my ArtisticLetters alphabet photos! I also love to send out Thank Yous and personal notes and plan to customize my own cards with something like this:

I think it would be fun to have something for each of the kids in their room as well. Maybe a Frame with the first letter of their name and then pictures along with it?! Or their initials?! I still haven't completely decided, but once again...the options are limitless! The following is one idea I created as a possibility for Kaelyn...

The ArtisticLetters website actually has a whole Get Ideas Here section which is great for those who want some ideas of where to begin. I really like a lot of the things I saw, especially the following!

I'd love to do a birth announcement like this once Baby #3 arrives in November ~ So cute!

What a neat idea for a graduation announcement!
With a complete set of letters and mattes, it's really up to the individual how they use them. I enjoy being able to make items for our home, and having options for scrapbooking and other things as well. It's been wonderful! I'm very impressed with how beautiful the pictures are and will definitely be recommending Artistic Letters to others I know.

When I'm looking for high quality toys and companies I know I can count on, all I have to do is visit my parents' house. They have saved several toys from my childhood for the grandkids to play with, almost all of which share the same company name...Little Tikes! After nearly 30 years...these toys have held up amazingly well. As a parent I want high quality toys that we can depend on lasting us for years to come and Little Tikes has proven to me (and my family) that we can always count on them.

Since 1970 Little Tikes has been offering families an amazing selection of innovative children's products that encourage them to get up and be active while playing. Offering everything from baby toys and children's furniture to riding toys and workshops...they have created a line of products that parents can trust and turn to time and time again.

Not only did I grow up playing with many Little Tikes products, but have also owned several over the years as a parent. We've had such wonderful experiences with their high quality toys, and couldn't have been happier to learn we were going to have the opportunity to review the new Cozy Truck! How cute is this?!
Features/Benefits:

  • Includes flatbed with a drop-down tailgate
  • Includes rugged "off-road" wheels
  • Working gas cap opens and closes
  • Steering wheel with a working horn
  • Distinctive truck styling with a realistic front grill
  • Driver's door opens and closes
  • Easy assembly
  • Weight limit up to 50 lbs
  • Recommended for ages 1 1/2 to 5 years old
When the Little Tikes Cozy Truck arrived on our doorstep, the kids were climbing on the box trying to figure out how to rip it open! They were very excited to check it out, and so was I!

Pulling out all of the pieces, I will admit I was a little overwhelmed and wondered how difficult it would be to put together.

Thankfully, it comes with user-friendly instructions (including pictures and descriptions of each step) that made assembly very easy. It did take about 45 minutes to put together ...partly because two little helpers were climbing all over the pieces...but was well worth it in the end!

One of our little helpers while putting the truck together
One of the pieces that came with it was a footboard for the truck. The kids love to push themselves around in their Little Tikes Cozy Coupe by moving their feet, so we decided to leave the footboard off the Cozy Truck and for now, it has worked out great. They can either push each other around, or themselves by moving their feet. I think it's a great option to have for younger children who like to be pushed in the Cozy Truck, though.

Once I saw it put together, I was really happy with the size. It's small enough that we can easily use it indoors or outdoors, yet large enough for the kids to comfortably sit inside and drive. It's actually quite roomy. Of course, as with all Little Tikes products we've had over the years, the quality stood out to me right away as well. I could tell this was made well and something that both the kids will be able to enjoy for many years to come!

What I love most about the Cozy Truck, is that it is very realistic and makes pretend play so much fun for the kids! The features and details that Little Tikes has added are really above and beyond anything I expected. We love it!

The wheels look rugged like real truck tires.

And, the stickers on the front (like the front grill and headlights) also add to the realistic look of the truck.

I would have to say the kids' favorite feature though, is the horn that actually sounds like a truck. Kaden will sit in it and push it over and over again, smiling from ear to ear.

The kids absolutely love the flatbed with the drop-down tailgate. Not only does Kaelyn say it reminds her of "daddy's truck", but they enjoy using it to carry their things wherever they're going. It's just one more touch that really sets this toy apart.

Kaelyn and Kaden both love the Cozy Truck from Little Tikes. They can easily climb in the driver's door (which opens and closes) and off they go. It's so nice having something that both my 19 month old and 3 year old enjoy playing with.

It's fun to watch as they use their imaginations and play with this toy. Whether it's a trip to the gas station to fill their truck up with gas (the gas cap actually opens and closes) or a trip to the grocery store to fill the back end up with food....they have enjoyed playing with the Cozy Truck for hours on end already. I definitely see this as being a toy that they'll love for years to come. And thanks to the great quality, I know it will hold up great!

We haven't taken it outdoors yet, but as the weather continues to warm up...I look forward to letting the kids drive it outside as well. It's the perfect summertime toy!

The Cozy Truck sparks creativity and helps encourage pretend play. It's a toy I'd definitely recommend to families with young children, and one I'm so happy we now have to enjoy. Once again Little Tikes has created an adorable and fun product that kids of various ages can use and play with for years.

Buy It: You can purchase the Cozy Truck for $79.99.
