Fall is here, which means colder weather and snow are just around the corner. One of the hardest things about Midwest winters is that the kids and I are cooped up most days without being able to get outside and be active. That's why I love finding ways to keep myself and them active while indoors, and was thrilled when introduced to Hoopersize!
Hoopersize is the first retail fitness kit designed just for children and families to keep them active. The kit includes an easy to assemble, indestructible full sized Pro-Hoop that's designed to be a bit thicker, heavier and a lot sturdier than typical hoops many of us have seen or used in the past.
What I liked learning about Hoopersize, is that it's built for success. Featuring a bigger diameter makes tricks easier to accomplish and allows kids to hoop for longer periods of time! Designed for children 6+, I knew this would be the perfect fun and easy way for Kaelyn to get a little fitness in each day...even when we're indoors!
We were sent Hoopersize which includes everything we need to have fun and be healthy. I was surprised just how small the box is that the kit arrived in.
Upon opening the box, there was the pieces for the hoop that needed to be assembled. Thankfully, it was a piece of cake and in just a minute I had each piece snapped together and the hoop ready to use.
Included was also 10 super cool hip-hop-hoop videos, 12 entertaining hoopmania games and 7 awesome hooptastic tunes! Kaelyn grabbed the hoop and got familiar with how to use it while I popped the DVD in the player. Once Miss Kellee began talking and showing her how to use the Hoopersize, she was glued!
I love that there's an instructional portion to the DVD, as well as a warm-up. As you'll see in the short clip below, Kaelyn did the warm-up first to get stretched out and ready to exercise. She has been following along with the videos to help her master the basics of hooping, but has also moved on to trying some of the different ricks, dance moves, etc.
There are times she gets frustrated because she's still learning, but the upbeat tone of the DVD always gets her smiling and trying again. With practice she's getting better every day and best of all...she's having fun and staying active.
My husband and I have both given it a try as well and are surprised just how much energy it requires. It's a great workout and a wonderful way to keep kids (and adults) moving and healthy. What a fantastic idea, especially with winter months just around the corner.
It actually can burn approximately 210 calories per 30 minutes session, which falls within accepted guidelines for exercise that can contribute to weight management. KidTribe's program is a full body workout that tones and strengthens every major muscle group as it builds cardiovascular health, hand-eye coordination ability, and creative self-expression.
I have been very impressed with the Hoopersize by KidTribe! It's well made, and Kaelyn LOVES it! I knew she'd enjoy it, but had know idea that it would be an activity she'd want to do so often and for such long lengths of time. It's been fun to see her practice and continue to master hooping with each day that passes. She's been staying active and having loads of fun. It's a product I would definitely recommend to other families with children of all ages and think it would make a wonderful gift idea too!
