Summer is probably my favorite time of year! Not only does it mean fun in the sun, but also family vacations! I love taking trips, but it's not always easy to travel with little ones overnight. My youngest is an especially light sleeper and wakes up to the smallest of sounds. Anyone who has ever stayed in a motel before, knows that there are usually lots of sounds. Not a good combination for a family of five who needs sleep! Thankfully, SoundofSleep.com has come to my rescue once again!

For those who read here often, you may remember my review of the Sound+Sleep Machine Sleep Therapy System. It offers so many wonderful features that aid in restful sleep at home that I thought it would be a great thing to have with us while traveling this summer as well. Turns out Sound+Sleep has thought of that with their latest model, the nomad! This is a travel version of the original Sound+Sleep unit and I couldn't have been more excited to learn we were going to have the opportunity to review one!
Features/Benefits:

  • Ideal for travel with measurements of 5.4" x 4.6" x 2.5"
  • Fits in purse, briefcase or carry-on
  • Listen to your music, movies, etc.
  • Travel friendly power management
  • Upward facing speaker
  • Adaptive Sound technology
  • Relaxing ocean, rain, waterfall, brook and meadow sound stories plus white, pink, brown and fan noises
  • Three operating modes - adaptive (for variable noise environments), manual for steady noise environments, external (for listening to music, movies, etc)
  • Four levels of richness for the ultimate control over sound story complexity
  • Gradual shut-off or continuous play for all night use
  • Optional sleep timer – 30, 60, or 90 minutes
As I read to learn more about this new model, I was impressed with the many features that make it the same as well as unique from the original Sound+Sleep Machine Sleep Therapy System. With as much as we love the original unit, I had a feeling we would love this travel sleep machine one just as much. I was right!
When the Sound+Sleep nomad Travel Sleep Therapy System arrived, I was not only happy to find the same sleek, modern design..but was also instantly impressed with its size. I have always considered the original Sound+Sleep Machine to be pretty small, so see the travel size measuring just 5.4" x 4.6" x 2.5" was a pleasant surprise.

Its small size makes it perfect for travel! It can easily fit in a purse, briefcase or carry-on bag which makes it super convenient and easy to take along wherever we're going!

Last month we had a wedding out of state and were gone for 5 days. That means 4 nights with the kids staying in beds other than their own. Needless to say, I was a little worried we would not get much sleep. That would have been the case, had it not been for the Sound+Sleep nomad! Thankfully, it helped us all get the sleep we needed due to its many wonderful features.

First, I was happy to find that it is just as easy to use. I was able to easily turn it on and find a sound that was pleasing to us all. It features real-time compositions utilizing high-definition, mostly natural sound recordings, producing high quality SoundStories with no noticeable repetition (I love that part!). Having non-repeating sound profiles means that there isn't a noticeable break in the sound that might wake one of us up at night (or at nap time!).

On the front of the machine is the SoundStory Selector. There are six sound profiles to choose from - relaxing ocean, rain, waterfall, brook and meadow SoundStories PLUS white, Pink, Brown and Fan noises! There's also a richness button which adds depth and character to the SoundStories when used.

I wasn't sure what to expect as far as sound quality goes since it's such a small machine, but I have been very impressed!! The sound is amazing, just as it is with the original unit! They are clear, real and relaxing! It really does aid in great sleep and relaxation, especially with the top-facing speaker which helps with sound quality.

One of my favorite features is the Adaptive Sound technology! It uniquely listens and responds to your environment thereby neutralizing unwanted background noises by adapting to noise in the room your in. This is especially useful in a motel where there are a lot of noises, but also at home as well. It has a microphone that listens to disruptive noises and raises the volume or adds enhancing sounds to the SoundStory. I absolutely LOVE it! It was great when we were traveling!

Something that we found really sets the Sound+Sleep nomad apart, is the new power management system. It can be powered by battery only, AC operation with battery back-up and by plugging the power adapter into a powered USB connector on another device such as a personal computer, laptop, etc. When away from home the battery only option is handy, but at home we like to plug it in.

It also comes with a cord so you can plug in your phone, laptop, etc and listen to music, movies, etc. I love this option. It's just one more reason why I think this sound machine is a step above the rest! It's amazing!

We have had the opportunity to use the Sound+Sleep nomad Travel Sleep Therapy System while traveling and have been very happy with how well it blocks out unwanted sounds and allows for restful sleep for the whole family. It's incredibly convenient and easy to take with us which is wonderful as well! When we're not on the go, we have been using it in my 2 year olds room and he loves it! In fact, I don't think he has ever slept better than he is now. The size is perfect for his small nightstand and we love that we can either choose the sleep timer option (30, 60 or 90 minutes), or have it continuously play all night long.

We've been very happy with this high quality travel sound machine and think it's perfect for travel and home use! I love the many features that set it above and beyond the rest and would definitely recommend it other families looking to help with relaxation and/or getting better sleep.

Would sure help drown that out! Also, I love that it can play all night too! I normally use a fan at night, but during the winter...it gets chilly. This would be perfect!
