We limit the amount of television our kids watch, as well as what they watch. It's not always easy to find appropriate shows and movies for kids anymore...especially those that are faith-based and have a good lesson to take away from them. That's why when they do watch something, we know we can always count on VeggieTales!
VeggieTales is the global leader in kids' faith-based home entertainment and has a new DVD for Christmas! Merry Larry and the True Light of Christmas came available in October and includes some fun and familiar faces and voices, including Si Robertson of Duck Commander as a brand new character! There's also an all-new song titled "Light of Christmas" performed by Owl City and TobyMac!
As a family who loves VeggieTales, we were excited to receive a copy to review. The day it arrived, we all sat down and watched it. Once again, the makers of VeggieTales did not disappoint!
This holiday story blends fun and entertainment, but most importantly tells a tale of the true meaning of Christmas as only VeggieTales can! We talk with our kids a lot about ways we can give back and help others, especially around the holidays so this is definitely a great storyline and dvd to watch with the kids.
We also enjoyed Si Robertson who is transformed into a loveable and wise okra janitor named Silas. Silas narrates the adventures of the holiday flick, which stars Larry the Cucumber, the vibrant Head Elf of the mall who will stop at nothing to assist a compassionate young girl on her quest to help a neighbor in need for Christmas. Bob the Tomato also co-stars as Phillip Fleagle, a harried mall employee who takes some time to realize that there is more to the holiday season than material gifts and light displays.
This simple lesson and idea is what we really want our kids to take away from the holiday season and I love that VeggieTales helps us do that! The kids not only love the storyline, but also the son, Light of Christmas! It is a holiday hit that they ask to listen to both on the movie and when we're in the car!
We have so enjoyed this new DVD, and I love that in the Spirit of the holidays, VeggieTales is keeping with it's core mission. They are working with Operation Christmas Child. More info about VeggieTales holiday collaboration with Operation Christmas child is available as a bonus feature on the DVD.
Fans will also enjoy an insider's look at the development of Silas with a behind-the-scenes video feature. Other extras include a special Owl City and TobyMac lyric video and the newest Silly Song with Larry "Wrapped Myself Up for Christmas".
