Holiday Gift Guide 2013: Playskool Color Me Hungry Hippo Toy ~ Review

It's hard to believe, but our youngest is turning 2 years old this week! He talks all the time and is already showing a love for learning! I want to encourage learning through play in any way I can, which is why I love companies like Playskool!

Playskool was the first to create toys designed specifically to encourage learning. In 1928, two school teachers founded The Playskool Institute based on the firm believe that children learn best through play. They built Playskool on this concept and eighty years later, Playskool is an award-winning, respected toy manufacturer that continues to create toys that kids can have fun with and learn at the same time!

As a former teacher and mom, I love this "learning through play" philosophy which is why we're big Playskool fans! We own many Playskool toys and I'm always excited when introduced to new ones like the Color Me Hungry Hippo toy!

The Color Me Hungry Hippo is designed for ages 6 to 36 months, so I knew it would be perfect for Caysen when I learned we were going to have the opportunity to review it.

When the Color Me Hungry Hippo toy arrived, I was impressed with the quality right away. It's something I can tell will hold up well for a long time, through a lot of use. Once again, Playskool did not disappoint!

Of course, I also appreciated the bright colors, fun and educational value this toy provides! Out of the box I liked how big the hippo is. It's perfect for little hands, not to mention easy for them to use and play with! Simply feed the friendly Hungry hippo character a shape and watch a his belly responds with a colorful glow! Caysen loves it!

There are four modes of play to keep little ones engaged as it teaches colors, counting, shapes and foods! Caysen has already started saying the colors correctly since playing with this fun toy! I'm impressed with how much he's learning! There are over 45 sound effects, tunes and activities and 2 language modes even! This toy is packed with fun and learning...even my 4 year old enjoys it!

Caysen loves this toy so much that he'll do it over and over and over again! It's easy enough that he can remove the shapes from the hippo's belly by simply opening up the door on the front all in his own.
