With three little ones, I am more conscious than ever about the foods my family eats and the products we use. Wanting to give my kids the very best start in life, I am always looking for more natural alternatives when it comes to our foods, our household cleaners...even our body care products! That's why I was very interested when my sister-in-law began talking about coconut oil and it's wonderful benefits a couple of months ago. She introduced me to Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil and I couldn't be happier about it!
Instead of selling coconut oil mass-produced by machines from dried coconut, Tropical Traditions is committed to providing healthy coconut oil. For more than 10 years, they have been producing their coconut oil by hand, using the wet- milling process of extracting the oil from fresh coconuts. In fact, in reading more about their company on the website, I learned that Tropical Traditions only picks out the best coconuts that will produce the best quality oil.

Independent laboratory analysis shows this to be one of the highest quality coconut oils on the market, having the highest levels of antioxidants. This enhanced Virgin Coconut Oil is now in the US market under the Tropical Traditions Gold Label brand. It meets our strictest standards to earn this designation. Today when you buy Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil, you are buying the highest quality coconut oil we have to offer, and it is still made by hand and benefiting families in the rural areas of the Philippines where the coconuts grow.

When I learned we were going to have the opportunity to review a 32 oz jar of Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil, I couldn't have been more excited!
I have read a lot of testimonials on the benefits of using Coconut Oil, and couldn't wait to try it out with my family. We have had it for about a month now and have used it for more than I could have ever imagined. One of the neat things about coconut oil is that it's a liquid above 75 degrees F. (25 C.), and below that it will be a solid fat. It can be stored in either form, and it can be liquefied easily by applying low level heat. Even by dabbing a little on my finger, it begins to change from a solid fat to a liquid. Very neat! I have found that because of this, a little goes a long way. I can see our jar of coconut oil lasting us a long time!

After reading through the Tropical Traditions website more in depth, I learned many ways coconut oil can be used in cooking. We've enjoyed using it to replace vegetable oils in baked goods, using it for frying food, etc. The taste it gives is amazing, and personally...I feel like it's a much healthier option for our family than shortening, canola oils, etc. As time goes on I'm looking forward to checking out some of the yummy recipes found on the Tropical Traditions website!

I am also one that prefers finding alternative treatments for everyday things and have used the coconut oil for several other purposes as well. (Please note, that the following examples are my personal experiences and in no way am I making health claims. Please see disclaimer at end of post.) For those who read here often, you know my son struggles with eczema quite badly. I like to keep his skin moisturized and thought the coconut oil might be a great way to do that. Our own personal experience has been that by dabbing a little bit on his most dry, flared up spots that it helps heal and sooth it a lot faster! We have even added a little bit to his bath water for a moisturizing soak. He comes out of the water with such soft, yummy smelling skin.

I have also used it on myself as well! I got a sunburn one of the first days it was nice enough to be outside for an extended period of time in May. I decided to put coconut oil on the burn and was amazed how well it helped the redness and pain go away, and prevented any peeling.

I also have been using it as a lip moisturizer and one of my favorites...a treatment for canker sores! I hardly ever get canker sores, but had two of them starting the day I received the coconut oil. I began putting it on the sores multiple times a day and found that it helped relieve the sting and pain of the sore almost instantly. Not only that, but for me...it also helped speed healing. The sores were gone much faster than my past experiences with them!

I've been so happy with the Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil! I love knowing that Tropical Traditions takes care into bringing people the very best, healthiest coconut oil that is produced by hand and not mass-produced by machines! It makes me feel good using it with our family and I'm sure as time goes on...we'll find many there uses and recipes that work for us!

There are so many ways to use coconut oil, especially in cooking. Frying, baking, dips, ketchup, salad dressings, pie crust, soups, fudge, pudding, cookies, muffins, brownies, cake, candy, gluten free and dairy free recipes, coffee, hot chocolate, smoothies, etc. I've been wanting to try this!
