When I was pregnant with Caysen, I had gestational diabetes. During that time I learned a great deal about eating healthy and living a healthier lifestyle. It was not a temporary change I only wanted to make during pregnancy, but one I wanted to make a permanent part of my life from there on out. Since having Caysen, I have done well watching what I eat, exercising more, and overall just making healthier choices for myself. I am always on the lookout for delicious, healthy snack ideas...which is why I was thrilled to learn more about Old London and their famous snacks, made with all-natural ingredients and whole grains.
We were sent three boxes of Old London yummy snacks. Our package included the Bagel Chips: Garlic & Herb, Melba Toast: Rosemary and Olive Oil and Melba Snacks: Sea Salt.

Along with the product samples, was a list of Healthy Living Tips from Susan M. Kleiner. I appreciated reading through these tips and found many of them to be very useful and familiar from when I started eating healthier during my pregnancy. Here are a few of my favorite tips:

  • Our bodies work like a clock. Create a food plan, including 5-6 meals and snacks throughout the day. Eat every 3 hours or so to keep your energy levels high and maintain mental focus.
  • Eat before you are hungry to control your appetite and cravings. Plan small, frequent meals and packable snacks to keep you centered throughout the day.
  • For a healthy brain and nervous system, eat a whole egg every day. Egg yolks are rich in B-vitamin choline, required to maintain the transport of nutrients into the cells and toxins out of the cells, and for every thought and movement we make.

To be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect, but the picture on the front of each box had me drooling to try them!! I tried all three kinds and thought they were all delicious...even better than I expected.
They are actually quite filling, and having looked at the nutrition facts...are quite healthy too! I love that I don't have to feel guilty eating them to help satisfy my hunger in between meals. I can pair them with cheese or salsa and they make a delicious, satisfying snack! This is great, because I think snacks are the hardest thing to come up with. I'm always tempted to grab something chocolate or a cookie, and having something like this on hand has really helped me continue to make good, healthy decisions for myself! I love it!!

My favorite is the Bagel Chips: Garlic & Herb. I even think these are great as a side with pasta instead of eating a couple of pieces of bread. It's healthier and just as yummy! Just one way I've started to use these as a part of my every day diet, other than snacks.

In visiting the Old London website, I actually found that there are many delicious recipes using these products in them. Now, not only can I enjoy them as a side or snack, but also as part of the actually recipe! As I browsed through them, a couple of my favorites would definitely have to be the Lasagna which uses the Melba Toast Rosemary & Olive Oil. I can't wait to try this, as I'm tired of the same old boring lasagna we have all the time. I also thought the Lemon Meringue Tarts with the Melba Snacks Whole Grain in them looked delicious as well!
