Disney Lemonade Mouth Movie ~ Review

Posted by Jenna | Thursday, June 02, 2011

I enjoy coming across wholesome movies the whole family can watch together...especially when there's a positive lesson to take from it. I began seeing commercials for Disney Channel's newest movie, Lemonade Mouth a while back...and will admit, that just the short clips with catchy music caught my attention.

Based on the book Lemonade Mouth by Mark Peter Hughes, Lemonade Mouth is a movie for audiences of all ages. This hit Disney Channel Original Movie stars well-known names like Bridgit Mendler, Adam Hicks, Hayley Kiyoko, Naomi Scott, Blake Michael, Nick Roux, Chris Brochu, Tisha Campbell-Martin and Christopher McDonald! Kaelyn was even familiar with many of them from watching different Disney television shows in the past.

I was excited to learn we were going to have the opportunity to review the Lemonade Mouth: Extended Edition on DVD, which released May 24th.

Movie Synopsis:

This spirited, music-driven movie introduces an unlikely ensemble of five students -- Olivia, Wen, Stella, Mohini and Charlie – who, after meeting in detention, gradually realize their shared musical connection and belief that it's time for the students of Mesa High to stand up and be heard on things big and small (ranging from the school Principal's exclusive support of the athletic programs to the removal of the popular organic lemonade from the cafeteria). Ultimately, as they open up to each other and form friendships, they start a band -- Lemonade Mouth -- that soon resonates with students sidelined by the high school elite. However, not everyone in the school is ready to cheer them on, especially since the popular rock group Mudslide Crush is determined to maintain their headline status and win the coveted Rising Star music competition.

Many of you may have already seen the movie, but for those who haven't...I don't want to give too much away. I will say that I was very pleased and my family and I have watched the movie several times. We really love it! For me it's the positive message about standing up for what you believe in and being heard that really stands out from the movie. I enjoyed the story line and think teens would especially too! This is definitely a music-filled movie which adds to the storyline. It had Kaelyn dancing most of the time.

The extended edition also includes an exclusive extended performance of Livin’ on a High Wire‖ and an exciting ―Rock-Along‖ version of the movie that allows fans to sing along, with lyrics to all the songs, appearing on-screen.

Overall, we all really enjoyed Lemonade Mouth. Between the music and the storyline..it's really a movie that people of all ages can sit down and watch together. My husband and I really liked being able to watch a wholesome movie with a positive message. I'm glad we own it on DVD now.
