Philips AVENT Toddler Feeding Products Review & Giveaway

Posted by Jenna | Friday, December 10, 2010

As a mom of two little ones, I am always looking for ways to make mealtime easier. Kaelyn has never been the best eater and Kaden is just starting to learn how to use a spoon instead of his hands for everything. I need kid-friendly products that not only encourage my kids to eat and have fun at the same time, but also those that makes it as easy as possible for them to feed themselves. Thankfully, Philips AVENT has me covered!

Since 1984, AVENT has been designing and manufacturing products inspired by nature for pregnancy and early parenthood. They know it is an exciting and challenging time which is why they continue to develop products that go through extensive research and clinical trials to make sure that you are getting the most innovative solutions to make feeding and caring for your baby easier.

As I browsed the Philips AVENT website a couple of months ago, I was immediately drawn to their Toddler Feeding products. With one child who is not the best eater and the other who is just learning to feed himself using a spoon...mealtime can be challenging and I appreciate their range of products to make it easier for children and parents alike.

We were sent a Philips AVENT Toddler Mealtime Gift Set, a 12m+ Spoon & Fork Set, and an 18m+ Spoon, Fork and Knife Set to review.

When the products arrived, I was immediately impressed with the way the Toddler Mealtime Set was packaged. It is displayed in a way that's perfect for gift giving and brought plenty of people to mind that would love this as a Christmas Gift for their kids!

The Philips AVENT Toddler Mealtime Gift Set is meant for children 6m+ and includes 1 divider plate, 1 large bowl, 1 small bowl, 1 toddler fork and 1 toddler spoon.

Each piece is a great size, perfect for little hands. I love that the plate is divided, making it easier to keep all the foods separate. The bowls are deep enough that they provide a great easy-scoop side which is a must when it comes to self-feeding in my opinion. Each of them also has an anti-slip bottom which helps prevent spills. I have noticed they still slide a little bit, but overall they make mealtime easier and don't move around nearly as much as our other dishes.

The forks, spoons and knife are also ideal for little hands and children who are just beginning to feed themselves using utensils. The 12m+ and 18m+ are very similar...the one for older children is just a bit bigger to accommodate a growing child. They have an easy to grip, non-slip handle (much like the anti-slip base on the bottom of the bowls and plate). They're designed to make it easy for children to scoop food and the knife is rounded enough to be safe, yet still effective for older children.

In the time we've been using the Philips AVENT Toddler feeding products, I've been amazed how well they've worked with both kids in making mealtime run more smoothly. I knew they'd be great for Kaden who is just starting out, but I wasn't sure how well Kaelyn would like them. I think what peeks their interest right away are the adorable designs on each piece. I have to admit that this is one of the first things I noticed and liked about these products as well.

With numbers, pictures and more...these designs make it possible to learn while you eat. Kaden loves to point to the kitty and use sign language to tell me what it is. Kaelyn really enjoys counting along and finding the number 3 especially since that's how old she is. Used for counting, storytelling, talking about where vegetables grow, etc...this is a great way to encourage learning. I knew it would be educational...but had no idea how much it would help Kaelyn start to enjoy mealtime more. As I said, she's never been the best eater, but this has helped keep her engaged and best of all...has encouraged her to eat ALL her food (that hardly ever happened before). She likes the 'challenge' of eating all her food so she can see the picture at the bottom of her bowl or plate!

The anti slip base on all of the products, as well as the non-slip handles, make self-feeding so much easier for us. Kaden is able to be more independent and I don't have to worry about the plate or bowl sliding all over the table and ending up on the floor as easily. He loves holding the utensils and with practice is getting better and better at feeding himself.

The fact that all of these products are BPA Free and dishwasher safe is also something I greatly appreciate. Making sure products are safe for my kids is of the utmost importance, and knowing that I'm able to clean them easily is great too!

Overall I've been absolutely thrilled with the Philips AVENT Toddler Feeding Products we were sent. They have made it easier for my kids to feed themselves and encouraged them to have fun and learn at the same time. Mealtime has been such a joy lately, thanks to Philips AVENT!
