Childcare education should teach some basic healthy eating habits to young children and the adults who raise them. Many people know that fast food and pizza fried chicken, burgers and fries are neither good nor healthy food choices; however, a lot of unhealthy food may be lurking in the home and thus making children fat.

Let’s look and see what the culprits could be?

Fruit Snacks
It says fruit on the package so it must be healthy right? Wrong! Read the back of the box; is there any fruit listed in there? Concentrate juice doesn’t count. Is there a list of chemicals a mile long? Things like, Red #40 yellow #5 or 6 and blue #1? If nature didn’t make these ingredients, a lot of them will be chemical sugars.

What can these ingredients do?
The latest findings are they can lead to weight gain and pre-diabetes; however, the color chemicals can also enlarge the lining of the brain, and make children hyper active and have murky or cloudy thinking. Take those fake fruit boxes and dump them in the trash. Give them real fruit instead. Although watch the portion sizes on those because they contain high levels of sugar as well. Toss out the juices too. Water, milk and sun tea will work just fine for growing kids.

White Bread
Used for sandwiches in lunch boxes, these breads are very soft and cheap to make. Truth, these breads have no nutritional value in them. Mostly made of high fructose corn syrup, sugar and enriched flour. These breads are nothing but sugar and empty calories and should be fed to the birds.

Pastas & Rice
These are nothing but carbohydrates with fat and will do nothing but make a person feel full for a while but after a few hours, they are hungry again and are still craving carbs and sweets. The reason why these foods make people fat is that they never satisfy and leave the consumer feeling hungry and craving more sweets and carbs no matter how much they eat.
