Merino Kids Cocooi Newborn Babywrap ~ Review

Posted by Jenna | Wednesday, December 14, 2011

All three of my kids have liked being swaddled as newborns....but Caysen loves it! The moment he is swaddled, he becomes more relaxed and comfortable. The problem I have with conventional swaddling though, is that he usually wiggles out and diaper changes are not easy. That's why i was happy when introduced to the award-winning Cocooi Babywrap.

The Cocooi Babywrap swaddler by Merino Kids is the world's first baby swaddling blanket crafted from 100% merino wool for safe newborn baby sleep. The superfine natural merino fabric is super soft and light, allergy-safe, and readily absorbs and releases moisture to create the perfect temperature around your baby's body in any season.

We swaddled Kaelyn and Kaden as babies, but it wasn't until Caysen was born that I was introduced to the Cocooi Babywrap. I found the idea of having a a swaddler that was 100% merino wool very interesting and couldn't have been happier to learn we were going to have the opportunity to review one.

We were sent the Cocooi Babywrap Swaddle and Cap in Natural to review.
When the product arrived, I appreciated the way it came packaged. This would be a great baby gift idea and the fact that it comes packaged so nicely makes it perfect for just that!

Of course, I couldn't wait to check out the Cocooi Babywrap and test it out with Caysen. As I pulled it out of the package, I was very impressed with the fabric. I knew it would be soft, but had no idea just how soft and light it would be. It's soft and silky and has a natural elastic property so it fits snugly every time, while still giving baby the freedom to move their arms and legs naturally as they did in the womb.

In fact, it's the 100% pure merino fabric that really sets this babywrap apart as unique and different. It allows to maintain a comfortable microclimate between baby and bedding...giving baby a safer sleep. It breathes and controls humidity which allows it to regulate temperature, protecting baby from extremes. In hot conditions, it removes heat and moisture away from your baby's body and in cool conditions it insulates. This not only is more safe, but also helps babies to sleep more soundly and comfortably. Having kids who have sensitive skin, I also appreciate that this material does not itch baby's skin and is safe to use with children who have sensitive skin or eczema.

As you can tell, I was very impressed with the fabric..but I also wanted to know what Caysen thought of it. Thankfully, it couldn't have been easier to use. It's easy to swaddle a newborn gently and securely in just a few steps. First we placed him on the babywrap with his feet inside the pouch.

You then fold the shorter wing diagonally over the left shoulder and tuck under the right side. Then fold the longer wing over the right should and under baby's back...wrapping all the way around.

I found that Caysen wiggled a lot while I was swaddling him, and I had to hold the fabric securely around him as I did each step so he did not wiggle out. Once I had him swaddled in, he really seemed to like it. He went from wiggling all over to a very relaxed state.

He really seems to like the Cocooi Babywrap and so do I. The fabric has a natural elastic property that not only makes it easy to use, but also gives him the freedom to move similar to how he did in the womb. It adjusts to fit his body shape and holds firmly in place without having to use velcro or other fasteners. Best of all...the quality is fantastic, and I love that the fabric is gentle on his sensitive skin.

I would definitely recommend checking out the Cocooi Babywrap to anyone with a newborn.
