Baby & Mommy Must-haves Event #10: Exederm Review & Giveaway

My skin has always been very sensitive and gets irritated easily when I use certain products. Unfortunately, my son Kaden is the same way! We learned this early on and are very careful about the lotions, bath soaps, etc. that we use on him. He also has eczema which has been miserable for him. His poor skin gets so dry and itchy that there are certain times during the year when it gets very sore and red looking. We have used different products that work ok, but have been in search for something that works even better...a line of hypoallergenic skincare products made especially for young children with his sensitive skin issues. That's why I was excited when introduced to Exederm!

With a philosophy to avoid the irritants that trigger eczema and always use the mildest ingredients possible, Exederm is committed to offering a hypoallergenic line of products specially made for those who suffer from eczema, dermatitis, and dry or sensitive skin. There are many baby and children's skincare products out there that contain ingredients that may irritate dry sensitive skin, which is why Exederm has dedicated themselves to providing products like lotion, moisturizer, baby wash, shampoo and more, that avoid harsh chemicals, unnecessary additives and unproven herbal ingredients that may irritate and cause a rash on sensitive skin or trigger an eczema flare-up on a young child's skin.
We have been dealing with Kaden's eczema for quite some time and it seems, no matter what we use he still itches and is very uncomfortable. When I was first introduced to Exederm, I appreciated the fact that their products do not contain the harsh chemicals and ingredients that so many other baby and children's skincare products do, and that they aim to use the mildest formula for those with sensitive skin. I was very eager to see how these products work and couldn't have been happier to learn we were going to have the opportunity to review them.

We were sent the baby bath, baby shampoo, baby lotion, baby moisturizer, and flare control cream...all of which contain no fragrance, no color or dyes, no parabens, no Sodium Laureth Sulfate, no parabens, no lanolin, no propylene glycol, no formaldehyde and no phthalates!

I was really excited when the products arrived and couldn't wait to start using them on Kaden. Would they really be as mild and great for sensitive skin as advertised?! We found the answer to be, yes! Unlike other baby products we've used in the past, these do not irritate his skin at all and he has had no negative reaction to them. In fact, having used this line of products for a while now...we're actually finding that they really have helped ease the discomfort and symptoms of his sensitive, dry skin.

The Exederm Intensive Baby Moisturizer is made to help hydrate a baby's skin without the unnecessary additives and harsh chemicals. We have found it to be non-irritating, non-greasy and something that moisturizes well. It really has helped keep Kaden's skin soft and smooth which I love, as for so long he dealt with extremely dry, chapped skin. It also seems to have helped soothe his itchy skin areas.
The Exederm Baby Lotion has also been great! This is a product we probably use the most often. Pretty much every time we change his diaper, we lather his legs and arms up with this gentle baby lotion. I really appreciate that Exederm has chosen not to include potentially allergenic ingredients such as botanical extracts, nut oils or herbal additives found in many everyday baby eczema lotions. We have found this lotion to be extremely mild and gentle on Kaden's skin. It is lightweight and really spreads on easily. He loves it, and so do we!

As for bath time, we have really enjoyed using the Exederm Baby Bath and Exederm Baby Shampoo.

The baby shampoo has worked really well. Kaden was even getting to the point where his head would itch and become dry and this has really seemed to help. I think the shampoo we were using before was actually irritating his skin and making his dry skin worse. Many kids shampoo products contain ingredients that irritate a child's sensitive skin and this is exactly what was happening with Kaden. The objective with the Exederm Baby Shampoo is simply clean, healthy hair and scalp and we have found that to be very true. It's an ultra sensitive low-foam baby shampoo that gently cleanses without irritation or itch. It's tear-free and suitable for children of all ages.

The baby wash is equally as great in our opinion. It gently cleanses Kaden's skin without stripping away natural moisture and without leaving his skin feeling red or irritated. It simply cleans his skin without all the ingredients that can cause irritation.

There's also the Flare Control Cream which is America's only paraben-free hydrocortisone cream. It helps to heal eczema flare-ups and is especially great for quickly relieving itchy, red skin and those really dry spots.

Overall we've been really happy with the line of Exederm baby products we were sent. They have all been very gentle on Kaden's extra sensitive skin and he has no reactions to them whatsoever. If you have a child who suffers from eczema, dermatitis, and/or dry or sensitive skin...I would definitely recommend checking them out for yourself. We have been very happy with the results!
