Caillou Doll & Caillou Learning Train ~ Review

Posted by Jenna | Sunday, April 10, 2011

Kaelyn doesn't watch a lot of television during the day, but when we let her, there are a few television shows she asks to watch time and time again. From the time she was very young, her favorite would definitely have to be the popular PBS Kids and Sprout program, Caillou. There's something about this beloved little preschool boy that keeps her begging to watch more.

To celebrate the fact that growing up is the greatest adventure, we were given the opportunity to review two great Caillou toys from ID Toys! I had a feeling Kaelyn would be ecstatic when the Caillou Doll and Caillou Learning Train arrived, and I was right!

When the products arrived, Kaelyn caught sight of them right away. She has always enjoyed watching the Caillou cartoon on television, and to actually have him sitting in her living room was very exciting! She was especially drawn to the Caillou Doll, recommended for children ages 3-5 years.

Upon pulling the Caillou Doll out of the box, I was impressed with the quality. He has a vinyl head, arms and feet which will hold up to daily use, as well as making him very easy to keep clean. This doll also features the classic Caillou outfit and a soft body for extra snuggles!

Kaelyn loves dolls and stuffed animals, so to have her very own Caillou to carry around and cuddle with has been quite the treat. She enjoys taking him in the car and of course, having him lay with her when she sleeps.

At 14.5 inches, the Caillou Doll is really perfect for children of all ages!

We also checked out the Caillou Learning Train. As with the Caillou Doll, I found the quality to be top of the line. It's well made and something I can tell will hold up to a lot of use. I was drawn to the bright colors and the many features it offers right away. So was Kaden! In fact, this is one toy he plays with every single day!

What my kids and I find so fascinating about the Caillou Learning Train, is that it has a lot of fun features. For instance, it has a wind-up train engine that chugs forward while Caillou and his sister Rosie move up and down. Both kids think this is really neat.

There are also other sensory things that are a lot of fun for little ones. The flag crinkles when touched, the steam squeaks when squeezed, the bell rings when moved, colorful bead shapes can be moved along the bar and so. much. more!

Kaden also enjoys putting the train together and taking Rosie and Caillou out to play with separately. I can't tell you how many hours of fun this train has already brought to our household, and I know it will continue to be one that's pulled out to play with regularly.

We have been very happy with both the Caillou Doll and the Caillou Learning Train. If you have a Caillou fan in your household, these are definitely two products worth looking into!

Buy It: The Caillou Classic 14.5 inch Doll retails for $29.99 and can be purchased at Toys R Us and Amazon.com. The Caillou Learning Train retails for $24.99 and can be purchased at Amazon.com and Toys R Us as well.
