From the time Kaelyn could pick up a book, she was hooked. What started as flipping through pages and being read to for fun, has grown into a sincere love for reading! There's nothing better than watching her open a book on her own and 'read'.

Although she is not even 3 years old yet that love for reading is evident and so precious to witness. As her mom, I want nothing more than to encourage her to learn to read and keep that desire to do so strong . That's why I was very excited when asked to be a VTech Voices blogger and receive a V.Reader from Vtech and TheMotherhood, to review. Be sure to STAY TUNED as I will be posting a review of this award-winning animated e-book system, fun giveaways and posts in the coming weeks that you won't want to miss!!
To help celebrate the launch of the new VTech V.Reader, and my desire as a mom and former preschool teacher to help children learn to read, it is my goal to find new and exciting places for my kids and I to dive into reading this summer. Two of Kaelyn's current favorite spots are in her little rocking chair and anywhere she can read with her little brother (usually on the living room floor). I'd love to explore new places too...possibly at the park or in our backyard now that the weather is warmer.

How about you? Do you and your kids have a favorite spot you like to read? I'd LOVE to hear about it! I encourage you to explore new spots too, and take pictures of you reading together. It's a fantastic way to encourage reading and make it fun!

For those who may not be familiar with the V.Reader yet, I would definitely suggest checking it out...available now at Target for $59.99. It's a unique children's animated e-reading system designed specifically for kids aged 3 - 7 years old. Stories come to life with this animated storyteller through sounds, music, graphics, etc. It helps to engage children with stories by watching, reading and learning along with some very lovable characters such as Dora the Explorer, Shrek and Olivia. By listening and following along, as well as touching the screen to play reading games, children learn the skills necessary to becoming a fluent reader.

Recently, the Summer Smarts survey found that moms need more help encouraging their kids to read and maintain their summer smarts. That's where VTech and the V.Reader come in! They are asking parents to take the Summer Reading Pledge and encourage their children to read as much as they can this summer. To kick-start this movement, VTech is giving away a FREE V.Reader to the first 100 moms and dads across the country to sign the pledge. It's SUPER easy! All you have to do is fill out and submit your pledge here.

You can connect with Vtech on Twitter and Facebook.
