ChildUp Early Learning Game Cards ~ Review & Giveaway

Both Kaelyn and Kaden have had a love for learning since they were very young. I try to find activities we can do together that help teach them important skills and concepts, while still being something that is fun at the same time! Around three years old, Kaelyn began showing an interest for anything and everything number and math related. Now, at 2 1/2, Kaden is the same way. I like to do different things with them to help with number recognition, one-to-one correspondence and with Kaelyn simple addition using manipulatives. I'm always on the lookout for different ways to make learning about numbers and math fun, so you can imagine my excitement when I was introduced to ChildUp.

For 6 years now, the ChildUp Team of early childhood development experts and dedicated parents has been providing information and solutions for parents who intend to raise successful, balanced, and happy children. They have developed a series of educational tools, including Early Learning Tools like their Early Learning Game Cards.

The ChildUp Early Learning Game Cards are a series of interactive and educational tools for parents, early teachers, etc. It's a great way to develop, by playing in an interactive way, the learning, cognitive and social skills of children. Geared toward boys and girls from 1 to 5 years old, I knew this would be a great fit for both my 2 year old and 4 year old in preparing them for school and future academic success. That's why I was happy to learn we were going to have the opportunity to review a set (Teach Your Child to Count to 10 game cards and Teach Your Child to Count to 20 game cards).

When the cards arrived, both Kaelyn and Kaden were excited to check them out. The bright colorful boxes drew them in right away. Upon opening the box, I was happy to find high quality, durable cards. I can tell that they will last us a long time. I also appreciate the fact that they come in a sturdy card box where we can store them when not using them. This will ensure that they stay nice as well.

Each set includes a set of Parent's Cards which help parents guide their children while they teach them important concepts. I really appreciate that these were included! Each of the children's cards is double sided. On one side is the number symbol, and the other shows the number quantity. For instance, the number 2 is on the front of the card, and on the back is a picture of two hippos.

At 2, my son is just beginning to recognize numbers and be able to count to 10. With him I began with the Teach Your Child to Count to 10 cards. We have spent time learning the names of each number and learning to recognize them.  I was amazed with how quickly he caught on. We then started to flip them over and I'd show him how to count the number of items on the back side. It really helps with one-to-one correspondence and counting skills. He has done great with it so far and is beginning to see the connection!

My 4 year old was able to recognize all of the numbers in each set, as well as count the different animals. At first I thought these cards may be too simple for her, but found that they actually promote other important skills as well - learning to differentiate even and odd numbers and being able to do basic additions and subtractions. Kaelyn loves this higher level of difficulty and enjoys doing some simple addition with them. For example, on the 10 card, instead of displaying a picture of ten dogs, it shows 8 dogs and 2 monkeys. It's such a fun, easy way to introduce important math skills like addition, and I've been amazed how quickly she has caught on. In fact, now that she has the hang of it, she'll add different things when we're out and about...like getting groceries. It's fantastic!

I love that I am able to use them as an educational tool for both my 2 year old and 4 year old at a level that's right for them. They are a great way to teach logic skills, mathematical concepts, and perfect for developing a child's vocabulary and language skills as well! I've thoroughly enjoyed using them with the kids and I know they have as well! I would definitely recommend these ChildUp Early Learning Game Cards to other parents with young children as well.
