When it comes to planning my kids' birthday parties each year, I usually begin with a theme...starting with the cake. One of the first places I turn to, is Wilton and their amazing selection of cake pans and other decorating supplies.
For 80 years Wilton has been helping families celebrate those special occasions in life with their quality bakeware and cake decorating products. They are a name people have grown to know and trust and are definitely the industry leader when it comes to cake decorating, quality bakeware and food crafting! There are times I have to think longer on what cake we should make, however...for Kaden's 1st birthday, we knew that an Animal theme would be perfect! He adores looking at books with animals in them, and being the little climber that he is...we often call him our little monkey. As I browsed the Wilton website, I was instantly drawn to their adorable Monkey Cake Pan and couldn't have been more excited to learn we were going to have the opportunity to review it!
Before having children, I had never decorated a cake other than whipping on some frosting and calling it good. Over the past few years I have made several, with the help of my husband too...who is actually very good at decorating and being creative with the design. I was looking forward to seeing how the monkey would turn out and couldn't wait to get started. The day before Kaden's birthday party, I got the pan out and as I always am with Wilton cake pans...was very impressed with the quality.
I mixed up a boxed cake mix and baked it as instructed in the Monkey Pan. After it was done and cooled, it was time to start frosting.
There weren't too many colors to mix up for the frosting, which was nice too. We did have a hard time getting the brown icing color to be as dark as we wanted...so I ended up using the chocolate frosting recipe instead. It worked perfectly.
Buy It: You can purchase the Wilton Monkey Cake Pan for $12.99
