Checking Our List #3 ~ Audiovox 7" Portable DVD Player Review & Giveaway

The Holidays are just around the corner which means traveling for many of us. Car rides and trips to visit family can be fun, but there are times when I find myself wishing I had a better way of keeping Kaelyn entertained in the car, at motels, etc. Although we always try to have several options available, including books and games, I am always on the lookout for other things she can do. Thankfully, Audiovox has come to the rescue!


What began in 1965 as a car sound company has expanded into one which offers the best in mobile and consumer entertainment products. Offering a large variety of high quality electronics products including those like satellite radio, vehicle security, digital camcorders, digital picture frames and much, much more...Audiovox is a name many have grown to trust and turn to time and time again. With an ever-growing family of brand names like Audiovox, RCA, Jensen, Acoustic Research, Advent, etc....it is no wonder they place in the top ten in almost every category they sell.

I have always been a fan of Audiovox and their amazing family of brands, but to be honest...until I visited their site a few months back, I had no idea how extensive their line of products really is! Whether you're looking for under cabinet televisions, car radios, MP3 Players, or something else...they literally have it all! As I browsed around, I was instantly drawn to their Portable DVD Players.
Audiovox has been a leader when it comes to portable DVD players almost from the day they entered the market. Offering high quality products with stylish designs, convenient features like headphones and carry bags is what really sets them apart from others. That's why I couldn't have been happier when I learned we were going to have the opportunity to review the Audiovox D710 7-inch portable DVD player!

When the Portable DVD Player arrived I couldn't wait to check it out.

As I pulled it out of the box I was immediately impressed with everything that came with it. Not only was there the portable DVD Player, but also the AC adapter, vehicle power adapter, and soft cover to keep the unit in when not in use. I really appreciate that it comes with the cords necessary to charge it in the car or from home.

The soft cover is also very nice, and an unexpected accessory that I love having. When we're not using the DVD player, I simply slide it into the cover and know that it is safe from getting scratched, etc.

The compact and convenient size also stood out to me right away. It is very sleek and exactly what we've been needing. It's the ideal size to take with us on the go or even for Kaelyn to hold on her lap. Oh, and did I mention that I absolutely love the stylish look and quality design?! It's very appealing and best of all, is something I can tell is made to last. I can see us using this for many years to come!

When I opened it up, I was very pleased with how functional it is. The disc tray is very accessible located right on the top of the unit when open. I can easily push the open button to set a DVD or CD in.

I also like that all of the buttons are located right there as well. While Kaelyn is watching it, she can easily find the play button, stop button, and others (including buttons like Zoom, Repeat, Previous, Next, Menu, etc). The fact that it's so incredibly user-friendly is something I really appreciate.

Of course, the real question was how well does it work?! Having had the chance to use it several times since receiving it, I can tell you we are very impressed. It far surpasses any other portable DVD player we have used in the past. With a 7" screen I had doubts that the picture quality would be very good. I couldn't have been more wrong! The moment the movie began to play I was amazed with the clear, crisp and sharp picture. The following picture does not even do it justice, but gives you a pretty good idea.

I was also impressed with the sound. It's very clear and with the volume control on the side of the unit, can easily be turned up or down to an ideal volume.

Although we have not used headphones with it yet, I love the fact that it has dual headphone jacks! I know this will come in very handy no matter where we're using it...in the car, at Grandma's, even in a motel.

Overall, we have been very pleased with the Audiovox 7" Portable DVD Player! The quality is fantastic and the compact design makes it incredibly convenient for us to use and entertain the kids wherever we're at. Kaelyn often will ask to watch it while I'm working on my computer in the office. I'm really looking forward to having it along when traveling over the holidays as well. Whether you have kids or not, this is a product I would recommend checking out and would make a fantastic gift for anyone on your list this year.
