Tis' the season for baking! I don't know about you, but between many birthdays in our family as well as holidays including Thanksgiving and Christmas...I am in the kitchen a lot this time of year. I love to bake with my kids...especially yummy cookies! We have our favorite recipes and typically always use the same brands and products. However, I'm always up for a challenge, which is why I was excited to hear about Unilever and their initiative: Good to Know.
There are many misconceptions about soft spreads, so as part of the Good to Know initiative, they've set out to dispel the myths and share the facts. With a wide variety of soft spreads, including Country Crock, i can't Believe It's Not Butter!, Promise, Brummel & Brown, Imperial - Unilever has the spread for you. ALL of their spreads are Good to Know because they they:
- Have 0g trans fat per serving
- Contain no partially hydrogenated oils
- Have no cholesterol
- Are 70% less fat than butter per serving
- Have 30% fewer calories than butter per serving
Out of their recipes, I was given the following options:
· One Bowl Chocolate Chip Cookies
· Anytime Sugar Cookies
· Chocolate Crinkles
· Best Ever Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookies
Ingredients:
1 | Cup of soft spread |
½ | Cup White Sugar |
½ | Cup Brown Sugar |
¼ | tsp Salt |
½ | tsp Baking Soda |
½ | tsp Vanilla |
1 | Egg |
1 | Cup Oatmeal |
1 | Cup Choc Chips |
1 | Cup Flour |
Directions:
- Mix together.
- Bake at 350 degrees 10-15 mins.
Our family tested a cookie out (or 2 or 3) and were suprised with just how delicious they were. Had I not made them, I wouldn't have known that they weren't made with butter. They were great, and everyone in the family agreed! I'm so glad I was given the opportunity to take this challenge. Our family will definitely be buying Unilever Spreads more often!
Be sure and enter the Confection Perfection sweepstakes where a KitchenAid mixer is given away every day! You can also visit ItIsGoodtoKnow.com for recipe ideas, tips from RD and more!
Win It: Unilever would like to offer one lucky reader a basket of baking goodies to help you prepare your cookies and other treats. The Good to Know baking set will include:
- Silpat® baking sheet liner
- Steel Cooling Rack
- Nonstick cookie sheet

ReplyDeleteGreat holiday contest. My family has a traditional cookie they make called a pizelle. They are beautiful and delicious. Unfortunately each cookie takes a full minute in the waffle iron and I don't really have the patience to make a large batch of them. Maybe when my kids are older and can help out.
