Fun in the Sun #11: Safety 1st Rumi Air Harnessed Booster Review & Giveaway

Although there are many things to consider when buying baby gear and children's products...one of the most important for me is always my kids' safety. No matter how convenient it might be, or what features it has to offer...if it's not safe, it's not for us. I make sure to look for companies that make safety their top priority when it comes to the products I buy, which is why I'm a big fan of Safety 1st.
For the past 25 years Safety 1st has been bringing parents high quality, innovative products they can trust. With everything from car seats and strollers to high chairs, play yards, monitors and more...it's no wonder they are a name parents continue to turn to time and time again.

Over the years we've owned several Safety 1st products and I'm always impressed with the quality and thought that goes into creating them. Most importantly, the dedication to keeping children safe is always evident. That's why I was excited to learn we were going to have the opportunity to review their new Rumi Air Harnessed Booster.

I had read all about the Rumi Air Harnessed Booster online, so when it arrived...I couldn't wait to check it out!

As I pulled the booster out of the box, I was immediately impressed with the quality. I could tell the unique FlexTech internal design provides added strength, giving it the durability I look for in car seats. It is also very soft and comfortable. I couldn't believe how cushy the seat is. Kaelyn even commented on how comfortable it is.


When I reviewed the the Complete Air 65 Convertible Car Seat last year, one of the things I liked most was the Air Protect Revolutionary Side impact Technology. This is a breakthrough system that shields a child's head and immediately reduces side impact forces through the precise release of air. Last summer I remember reading on the Safety 1st website that 1 in 4 car crashes involving children are side impact collisions (the deadliest kind) and account for 1 in 3 child fatalities...nearly all of which are caused by head trauma! It's a scary thing to think about, but comforting to know that Safety 1st has created the Air Protect Revolutionary Side Impact Technology to help keep kids safe. This is why I appreciate this feature so much! Kaelyn really likes it too...as she enjoys laying her head against it when she's getting sleepy in the car.

I was also happy to find that this booster grows with a child. It can be used with the harness from 22-65 pounds and then converts to a belt-positioning booster from 40-100 pounds and 57 inches. We are able to use the seat with both kids using the harness, and look forward to using it as a belt-positioning booster once Kaelyn gets a bit older. It's nice to know that we'll be able to use it for years to come!

In the times we've used it so far, we have really appreciated the adjustable harness. It makes it easy to ensure that we find the perfect fit for Kaelyn which is so important for both safety and comfort. We've had other car seats where the harness is not very easy to adjust, so the QuickFit™ Harness where there's no need to re-thread is much appreciated! The harness can be adjusted from the front by pulling on the harness tightening strap. The buckle position can even be adjusted to be more comfortable and snug for your child.

There is also a 12-position adjustable headrest which accommodates your growing child. With one hand, simply press the headrest adjustment lever and pull up or push down to get the height at an appropriate spot for your child. In no time we had the Rumi Air Harnessed Booster ready for Kaelyn to use! The final step was installation.


There have been car seats in the past that we found to be very difficult to install. Thankfully, that was not the case with the Rumi Air Harnessed Booster! My husband had it in the car, the seat belt threaded through the belt slot and buckled in no time at all! He really liked having the color-coded belt paths as it made installation even easier.

Kaelyn was very excited to try it out. As I said, one of the first things she commented on was how comfortable it is. She also loves having the integrated cup holder and snack tray. With summer here and more traveling in our future, I know we'll be in the car a lot more. On long car rides the kids enjoy having a snack and drink...so having a feature like this is absolutely perfect. It's at a height she can easily reach and get to which is nice too!

Overall we're very happy with the S1 Rumi Air Harnessed Booster. The quality is fantastic, and best of all...it offers the features necessary to keep my kids as safe as possible. It's been great for Kaelyn and is a booster I know will get a lot of use out of as the years go by. Giving parents the opportunity to provide their kids the very best in safety and style...I would definitely recommend checking out this booster seat from Safety 1st.
