There have been several times when friends who are soon-to-be parents have come to me with questions about what things I look for when shopping for baby products. My response always includes, safety! When it comes to any baby gear/products I buy for my kids' safety is always most important. I always look for companies that make this their top priority, which is why I am such a big fan of Safety 1st and their great selection of products for young children!
This past summer I had the opportunity to review the onBoard 35 Air Infant Car Seat from Safety 1st. It was at that time that I browsed the Safety 1st website and learned 1 in 4 car crashes involving children are side impact collisions (the deadliest kind!) and account for 1 in 3 child fatalities...nearly all of which are caused by head trauma! It's really scary to read those facts as a parent, but reassuring to know that there's a company out there like Safety 1st who is dedicated to keeping children safe. For the past 25 years Safety 1st has been bringing parents high quality, innovative products they can trust. It's no wonder so many us continue to turn to them again and again for our baby gear needs.

Over the years we've owned several Safety 1st products and have always been impressed with the quality and thought that goes into creating each and every one. I am continually impressed with their innovative products, which is why I was excited to find out we were going to have the opportunity to review a few more! They sent us their Complete Air 65 Convertible Car Seat, Naturals Baby Care line and several of their ProGrade Home Safety items to review.

When the Complete Air 65 Convertible Car Seat arrived, I was immediately impressed with the quality. It's so soft and comfortable that it had me wishing the seats in cars for adults were this soft! As with the their onBoard 35 Air Infant Car Seat we have, it has the Air Protect Revolutionary Side Impact Technology which is a breakthrough system that shields a child's head and immediately reduces side impact forces through the precise release of air. I love this safety feature! Oh, and the seat pad is washable...which is a must when it comes to any baby product in my opinion!

This car seat is also very convenient! I love that it's made to grow with a baby and keep them safe every step of the way. Since it's made to use rear-facing from 5-40 pounds (19-40 inches) and front-facing from 22-65 pounds (34-52 inches), it can easily be used from birth through toddlerhood and is one that we can use with either one of the kids.

The adjustable harness makes it easy to ensure that you find the perfect fit for your little one. There have been other car seats we've had where the harness is not very easy to adjust. Thankfully, that is not the case with the Complete Air 65. The QuickFit Harness System adjusts the harness height from the front in one easy step without uninstalling the seat from the car. By simply pushing down on the harness release lever while pulling out on the harness straps, you can loosen...and by pulling on the harness tightening strap, you can tighten.

There is also a 5-position adjustable headrest which accommodates your growing child. By pushing in on the gray height adjustment levers at the top of the seat and lifting up/pushing down, it can be adjusted to a safe height for your baby or toddler.

We love the removable cup holder too. When we're traveling long distances it's always nice when the kids are able to have their drinks within reach. We usually just keep it on, but I like that it can be taken off...this is great for cleaning it especially.

The one thing with car seats is that many of the ones we've tried are quite difficult to install. I was curious to see what this one would be like, and couldn't have been happier to find that it was very easy. In no time my husband had the car seat in the car, the seat belt threaded through the belt slot and buckled.

Overall we're very happy with the Complete Air 65 Convertible Car Seat. The quality is fantastic, and best of all...it offers the features necessary to keep my kids as safe as possible.

With a very active 3 year old and 1 year old, the ProGrade Home Safety products were something I really appreciated receiving to review as well. Unlike the flimsy outlet covers and door locks we've tried in the past...these are very well-made and help put my mind at ease when it comes to the the safety of my kids.

We had several outlets that needed better covers on them and received 3 ProGrade Swing Shut Outlet Covers to try out. I was instantly impressed with the quality and sleek look.

There were two mounting plates included so that no matter the type of socket a person has, they are sure to have the right fit. By simply screwing it into place, the Swing Shut Outlet Cover was on. I absolutely love the spring loaded closure as well as the locking indicator.

Another safety issue we have in our house is Kaelyn shutting doors without looking first to see if Kaden is anywhere near by. Thankfully he has never gotten his fingers pinched, but I've still always wondered if there was a way to prevent it. Thanks to Safety 1st, there is! We were sent three 2pks of ProGrade Finger Pinch Preventers. These are incredibly discrete and SO easy to use. I simply pinched it together and stuck it above the hinge. This prevented Kaelyn from being able to shut the door...keeping Kaden's little fingers (and hers) safe. And, when not in use, it conveniently hangs right on the door knob.

Another home safety product for doors is the ProGrade No Drill Top of Door Lock. We have a basement where the kids' playroom is, and Kaelyn likes to go down there on and off throughout the day. She's usually pretty good about remembering to close the door behind her, however, there are times when she forgets. That's why I was happy to use one of the 3 ProGrade No Drill Top of Door Locks we received on that door. It's a great way to make sure that unless I open the door for her, she can't go down and forget to close the door behind her.

The fact that there's no drilling involved is great! That means no marks left on the door when it's removed at some point. I found it was very easy to clamp to do the door and love the special retractable guard that helps prevent pinched fingers. We tried it on one door that has a different door frame and it did not 'lock' as easily. So making sure you have a compatible door frame is important. When not in use, it lays flat against the door.

There's also the cupboard under our sink in the bathroom that we were needing a better lock on. We were sent 3 ProGrade Cabinet Locks to test out, and wow...am I impressed! The quality is great, and the features make it so that no one but an adult can get in. To unlock, the button on the front and the lever on the side need to be pushed in at the same time. These also have the SecureTech locking indicator which I really like a lot too.

There's home safety, and then there's making sure my kids are healthy and safe when it comes to the products we use. We were sent the Safety 1st brand new line of Naturals baby care products which are all pediatrician tested, mild and contain no parabens, phthalates, formaldehyde, dyes, harmful chemicals or preservatives!

Both kids have really dry skin this time of year. They also have sensitive skin, so I am always careful what I use. The Naturals™ Daily Moisture Lotion and Naturals™ Intensive Moisture Lotion have both been working great for us! They don't go on super greasy and thick, and moisturize their skin very well! I have even been using the Intensive Moisture lotion on my own hands, as I have a terrible time with the skin on my knuckles cracking this time of year and have been very happy with it. Unlike some skincare products, these do not have an offensive smell either. They actually smell really good!

Unlike Kaelyn who had very few diaper rashes as a baby, Kaden has had several. When it comes to using something on Kaden's sore bottom, the last thing I want are harmful chemicals that make him even more sore (not to mention that they are not healthy for him either), which is why I was excited to try the Diaper Rash Cream. Like the lotions, it goes on very smoothly and smells great! It has seemed to help the redness and overall he seems a lot more comfortable. I'm looking forward to being able to continue using this with him.
Out of all the baby care products, the Naturals Bubble Bath has probably been the biggest hit at our house! The kids love bath time, and of course, bubbles make it even more fun! I have always been a little leery of bubble bath, not knowing what was in them or if they would be hard on my kids' sensitive skin. Having something that's mild and tear-free has been great. I was actually surprised to see how well it worked with very little bubble bath needed (some bubble bath products require a lot of it to get a good amount of bubbles). We received 2 bottles of Naturals Bubble Bath and I can see them lasting us a very long time.
