I ended up nursing Kaelyn for the first 12 months and loved every minute of it. I have been nursing Kaden since day one and thankfully have had the same positive experience! I feel it's such a great way to bond. There are times when I need to nurse in public or with company over where I want to be more modest when doing so. I've tried different nursing covers, but don't really like that they take the whole 'bonding' experience away by covering him completely. That's why I was very excited when I came across BabyBond.

During a 2 AM feeding in 2006, Missy realized the need for a nursing accessory that would cover mom, but not her baby. The next morning she cut and sewed one of her husband's t-shirts into the prototype for what would become the Slurp & Burp®. Since then, Missy has designed three product lines to meet the needs of a variety of nursing moms and babies as well as having rebranded to BabyBond™, a name that highlights the primary benefit of the products offered.

As I browsed their website I came to appreciate what BabyBond is all about. Their nursing accessories are made to cover mom, not baby. They allow moms to maintain their modesty, while still being able to nurse comfortably wherever they're at. Not many nursing covers make it very easy to have eye contact and interact with one another like the BabyBond.

There are three different BabyBond Styles offered in various colors:

  • Original - worn like a sash, functioning like a nursing top. Nurse from the top of your shirt. Separate the layers of fabric to achieve latch on. Double panel keeps breast covered above & below. Belly & back remain covered with your own shirt. Built-in 9 x 12″ double layer terry velour burp cloth. Stores in matching pouch.
  • Flex - worn like a sash, functioning like a nursing top. Nurse from the top of your shirt. Separate the layers of fabric to achieve latch on. Double panel keeps breast covered above & below. Belly & back remain covered with your own shirt. Removable 9 x 12″ double layer terry velour burp cloth. Able to attach any cloth or wear without cloth attached. Stores in matching pouch.
  • Couture - adjustable creating a custom fit as your body changes after baby arrives. A hybrid between nursing top and belly band, it can be worn to nurse from the top or the bottom of your shirt so it works with your entire wardrobe. When worn like a sash, it functions like a nursing top. When worn like a belt, it functions like a belly band. Rolls up into self-storing pouch.
After figuring out which size I am, BabyBond™ sent me their BabyBond Flex.

I was very excited when it arrived on my doorstep. I am always open to trying new types of nursing covers, especially when it promotes interaction and bonding between me and my baby. My first impression was that the material is very soft. Not only is this great for Kaden, but also for me. It's not something that will irritate either of our skin and doesn't make us hot while using it.

Having read a lot about BabyBond on their website and watching their informative video, I was all ready to try it out! The BabyBond Flex is worn with shirts that are accessible to nurse from the top. It's warn like a sash. Once it's in place, the outer layer is pulled up slightly, and the bottom layer down so that they are separated and latch on can be achieved.

I thought it might take a little bit to get it put on and in place, but it really didn't. This is a huge plus to me, because any nursing mama knows that when baby is hungry there's not much time to be fussing with putting a nursing cover on. It's a bit looser which helped in making it easy to put it on. I think if it were a little more fitted it might stay in place a bit better, however, I did like how easy it is to put on and the fact that it covers me so well.

Kaden moves around a lot when nursing. I was a bit worried that if he pulled away in the middle of feeding that I would not be covered well enough. Having used it several times now, I have found this not to be the case. The fact that it's looser makes it very easy to stay covered in my opinion.

Another feature I really like about the BabyBond Flex is the absorbent removable burp cloth. This is great to have and so handy, as Kaden tends to spit up quite a bit after most feedings. There's a strap where you can use one of your own burp cloths instead of the one included if needed or desired.

I love the matching pouch too. When I have something extra to take along with me in the diaper bag, I need it to be convenient to pack and get at when needed. The fact that I can easily put the BabyBond in its pouch and take it with me wherever I'm at has been great!

Overall I'm very happy with the BabyBond. It allows me to nurse in public and around people comfortably while still maintaining my modesty. Kaden and I still get our bonding time which is a change from the times I've used other nursing covers that cover his head. Having had the chance to use it several times already and get more used to it, I definitely think it's a great option for nursing moms! It would make a terrific Mother's Day gift for nursing moms as well as a great baby gift!
